Virginia "Ginger" Jones

Virginia “Ginger” Jones was born on February 15, 1942, in Shidler, Oklahoma to Lola Alice Kathryn Wood and Clyde Chapman. Ginger was a beautiful woman with an even more beautiful spirit. She never met a stranger and those that knew her couldn’t help but love her. Ginger had incredible wit, was an amazing storyteller, was hilariously comedic, loyal, and had a fierce love for her family and friends. Ginger was a lifelong waitress and barmaid, she started working at age 12. She lived in many places during her life but made Bartlesville her home in the late 1960’s. she worked at The Fortune Restaurant, Western Sizzlin, Rusty Nail, Golden Corral, The Fountain, and Solo Cub. She made many friends over the years working with the public and loved those friends just like family. To many of those friends she was known by her nickname “Tiny”. She may have been small in stature, but her personality was immense. Ginger’s favorite thing in life was family, but she also loved going on cruises, taking a 20 dollar bill to the casino, dancing, and going on girls trips to Branson with her daughter and whoever else might be brave enough to tag along. She loved her dogs, Pepper and Blackie, she loved watching television, eating Cheetos, and drinking coffee, but she lived to tell stories. She might have missed her calling as a writer, but her family is incredibly grateful to have been her audience all these years. Ginger wasn’t much on materialistic things but there was always one thing she wanted dearly. When people would ask her what she wanted for her birthday or Christmas, the answer was always the same “I just want 15 minutes with George Strait.” Being the ever-honest woman, she was quick to admit that she probably really only needed 5 though. Whether you knew her as Ginger, Tiny, Mom, Grandma, or something else, you knew that your life was enriched just for knowing her. Her beautiful smile and bubbly personality will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to call her a friend. Ginger is survived by her son, Larry Ray Jones and girlfriend Julie Deitz of Grand Lake; daughters, Laura “DeDe” Puckett and husband Chris of Bartlesville and Keri Castro of Alaska; daughter-in-law, Sheila Jones and Fiancé Ken Stark; grandchildren, Karolyn Cessna of Waxahachie, Texas, Marquita Jones of Bartlesville, Jason Puckett and wife Riley of Bartlesville, Brandon Jones and wife Julie of Oklahoma City, Bradley A. Puckett of Bartlesville, Justin Jones of Bartlesville, Alexis Trude and husband Jeff, Kyle Gilliland and wife Jenna of Luther, and Brooklyn Hiller; special cousin, Leonard Ray “Corky” Combs of Orlando; great grandchildren, Benjamin Cessna of Waxahachie, Nevaeh Runyan, Mackenzie Runyan, Parker Hiller of Bartlesville, Asher Puckett of Bartlesville, Cooper Gilliland of Luther, and Clayton Gilliland of Luther; and a host of cousins and friends. Ginger’s family would like to express our gratitude to the amazing healthcare workers from Bartlesville Health and Rehab, Choice Hospice, and The Journey Home who showed great love, compassion, and kindness to Ginger in her final days as she waited to be called home to see her sweet mama and son, Rex Jones. We love and miss you grandma. Thank you for being you.
