Phyllis Eileen (Hughes) Vincent

MRS PHYLLIS EILEEN (HUGHES) VINCENT Phyllis Eileen Vincent was born on June 20, 1920 in Norman, Oklahoma to James Leo Hughes and Belle Marie Brooks Hughes. She attended Stillwater Public Schools through high school graduating in 1937. She attended Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University) and graduated in 1941 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. After graduation, she did secretarial work at Oklahoma Ordinance Works in Pryor, Oklahoma. In the spring of 1943, she joined the WAACS (Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps) and proudly served her country for 32 months. She was stationed at Seabring, Florida and given rank of Sergeant. Phyllis was married to Patrick Grant Vincent on February 16, 1946 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage and raised a family of six children in Bartlesville. In 1967, Phyllis became a Licensed Practical Nurse through the nursing school at Jane Phillips Hospital and worked in a doctor’s office until retirement in 1983. Mrs. Vincent is survived by her brother James Leo Hughes and his wife Mauree Hughes of Houston, Texas. Four sons, Michael Patrick Vincent and his wife, Mary Anne of Houston, Texas, David Ernest Vincent and his wife, Pam of Henderson, Nevada, Eddie Alan Vincent and his wife Karla of Kingston Springs, Tennessee, and James Grant Vincent and his wife, Stephanie of Norman, Okla. Two daughters, Barbara Ann Snow and her husband Larry of Pasadena, Texas and Jane Marie Rogers and her husband, Scott of Strasburg, Colorado. 15 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Vincent was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Jean Clendening and Ruth Buckner, her husband Patrick Grant Vincent and granddaughters, Mary Kathleen Vincent and Mellissa Ann Lopez-Snow. A rosary will be said at 7:00pm Thursday, April 24th in the chapel in St John Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am Friday April 25th at St John Catholic Church, 715 South Johnstone, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Memorial donations may be made to: Mary Martha Outreach, P .O.
