Lois Laverne Peace

Lois LaVerne (Slape) Peace was born August 11, 1930 in Ft. Gibson, OK, to her parents , Riley Slape and Ida Jane (Cawvey) Slape. She departed this life, at home, surrounded by family, on April 20, 2018. Lois was a twin and had a sister who didn’t survive and passed in September, 1930. Lois spent most of her life in Hulbert, Ok. Where she attended school and worked in many of the local stores. One day, a handsome young man came to Hulbert to visit his mother. His name was Clarence Peace. Clarence came from a family of 5 boys. All were plasterers. He and Lois met, fell in love and married in 1951. They lived in Hulbert for a brief time and then moved to California to make their fortune. They had two children, Michael and LaRhonda. They also had another child whom they lost, before her birth, in a car accident, in 1953. Her name was to be Deborah Kay. They had a successful and happy life in California but longed for their family in Oklahoma. They returned to Wagoner, Oklahoma and lived there for many years. She became a beautician and operated Lois’ Beauty Salon until her retirement. Her retirement years were filled with helping Clarence raise cattle, crocheting, reading, and cooking. She had a passion for history books, especially Thomas Jefferson and the other presidents. She and her husband spent many evenings sitting outside, watching the cattle. She loved animals and gardening. As their health started to decline, they moved to Bartlesville to be with family. Clarence passed on January 28, 2018 and Lois followed nearly 3 months later. They had been married 66 years. Lois is survived by her children, Michael Peace and his wife Mary Ann (Atchley) Peace and LaRhonda Peace-McBrayer. Grandchildren; Ryan Peace and wife Brandi, Taryn Schell and husband, Bryan and great grandchildren, Brooke Misener and Sophia Schell, her sister, Joan Cochran and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Father, Mother, Sister, Eula Loftin, Brothers Richard Slape and Fay Eugene Slape and her Son in Law Boyd McBrayer. A private graveside service will be announced at a later date. She and her husband ashes will be buried at the IOOF Cemetery in Hulbert, OK,
