Linda Jean Thomas

Linda Jean Thomas, age 72, of Bartlesville, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 28, 2024, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, surrounded by her family. Linda was born on January 31, 1952 in Oakland, California to George and Laura Sheward. As the daughter of a career Navy man, she was raised in various places in California, Kansas, Illinois, and Florida before the family settled in Pittsburg, Kansas. On December 14, 1974, Linda and Donald Wayne Thomas were united in marriage in Pittsburg. After their marriage, they lived in Caney, Kansas before moving to Dewey in 1982 and then Bartlesville in 1996. Linda was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She particularly loved animals of all kinds including various cats and dogs she shared her home and recliner with over the many years. She was a creative and talented spirit who enjoyed making clothes, quilts, and holiday decorations for herself, family, and friends. She was gracious and kind to everyone she met and had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. She provided her family with compassion, support, joy, and inspiration. Diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome in her early 40s, she courageously fought the disease and its associated health challenges for over three decades, sustained by an unyielding spirit and the unwavering support of her husband, whose strength and devotion sustained her during the toughest times. Those that survive and hold many treasured memories of Linda are her husband - Don; daughter - Kelly Thomas of Dallas Texas; son and daughter-in-law - Shawn and Maura Thomas of Austin, Texas; son and daughter-in-law - Darby Thomas and Melisa McCelvey of Tulsa; three grandsons, Devon, Morgan, and Mason, two granddaughters Sierra and Ariana; one great-grandson - Kian, and two brothers Mike Sheward of Weir, KS; and Dennis Sheward of Fischer Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents. There will be visitation for family and friends Monday evening, March 4, from 5 to 7pm at the Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville.
