Joy Rowe

Joy Bridges Rowe passed away on November 11th at 10:15 a.m. at the age of 67. She is survived by her husband Robert D. (Bob) Rowe of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She is also survived by two sisters, Wanda Smith and husband Bill Smith of Escondido, California, Ginger Thompson and husband Steve Thompson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and one brother Ken Bridges of Mayflower, Arkansas. Joy is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, and fifteen great nieces and nephews. Joy was born on March 9, 1955, in Demopolis, Alabama to Sara and William (Sonny) Bridges. She attended Elementary School, Junior High and High School in Demopolis, Alabama where she graduated High School in 1974. Joy accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Fairhaven Baptist Church. After working for several years in Respiratory Therapy at Brian Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis, Joy accepted a position at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and later at hospitals in Atlanta, GA, Miami, FL, and Birmingham, AL. In 1986, Joy moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma to live near her sister Ginger and her family. Joy was hired by Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville where she worked for twenty-eight years in Respiratory Therapy. Joy obtained professional certification in Respiratory Therapy while working at Jane Phillips Hospital. In 1987, Joy met Bob Rowe who also lived and worked in Bartlesville. The couple fell in love, dated for seven years and married on October 31, 1994. Bob was the love of Joy’s life and they soon bought a home in Bartlesville. Joy and Bob loved to travel on their Harley Davidson motorcycles and they rode across the United States and into Canada on their numerous road trips with friends. Joy was a member of First Baptist Church in Bartlesville and a member of the Adult Choir and Sunday School. She also assisted with several ministries within the church, including Celebrate Recovery where Bob had a leadership role and Joy helped with hospitality. Joy was well known in Bartlesville since she worked at Jane Phillips Hospital and treated hundreds of people during her career. She was greatly respected by the hospital staff for her hard work ethic, and her ability to encourage others. Joy had a servant’s heart loving and caring for elderly friends, cooking meals for family and friends, and ministering to those in need. Her generous heart and tireless energy left a lasting mark on those who knew her and loved her. Joy was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
