Janice Carol Kinkaid

Janice Carol Kinkaid passed away in her home at Nowata on June 10th 2024 at the age of 76. Janice–given the name Geemaw Jan by her grandson Noah –was born to James Cletus Garner and Gertrude Lily Bridges Garner on December 19th 1947 in Phoenix Arizona. Geemaw Jan worked as a teacher for 35+ years with her associate’s in teaching. It began for her in the Bartlesville Public Schools student cafeteria where she worked as their lunch lady. Janice upgraded from serving food to subbing and helping kids with their reading and English. On the 28th of December in 1993, she married the love of her life Teddy Mack Kinkaid. She retired from Bartlesville Public Schools to care for her husband as he was very ill. After his passing she moved to Nowata 3 years ago so she could be closer to her son Scott and his family. Whenever she’d feel like it, Grandma Jan would express her love of candy and bread making by serving treats to her family across the street. She loved to be taken out Tuesday Thrift Shopping with her daughter in law Shelly Carley. After it began, it quickly became the highlight and norm of her week. The two would as well enjoy casino all night getaways alongside Shelly’s mother: Cathy Bryant. A couple Years ago, she won $10k on her first hit betting just 75 cents. It remained an exciting and thrilling moment to tell and be remembered. Other very happy moments would be reuniting with her sister (Ann Cagle) and niece (Alisa Henin) after many years . She enjoyed many hours on the phone with Ann reminiscing about their younger years. Geemaw Jan enjoyed spending time with Scott , Shelly, and all of her grandchildren. Living with her were two babies: Mollyann Kinkaid and Madonna Kinkaid who she raised as tiny kittens. They’re both girls with striking personalities that were pampered and spoiled by her all the way to the age they are now. Alongside having a knack and hobby for making bread and candy; shopping; and winning at casinos, she’d find herself busied by the TV with her cats; watching her grandchildren play from her porch or on the phone with her good friends Ernie and Linda. Before she passed, she had plans to teach Cathy how to make her special candies she’s made throughout the years and to take her granddaughter Mashayla shopping for her upcoming leadership trip to Atlanta. Janice is preceded in death by her Husband Teddy Mack Kinkaid, her granddaughter Mckenzy Pearl Carley, her mother Gertrude Garner, 3 of her brothers, and 1 of her sisters. She is survived by Phillip Scott Carley and his wife Shelly Carley of Nowata alongside their children Noah Carley, Gracey Carley and her loving boyfriend Kenyon Gray, MaShayla Brown, Nemiah Gibbs, Josiah Carley, Kenyon’s brother Milin Hill Jr all of Nowata, OK. Jesse Warren Carley and his wife Dawn of Katy TX; granddaughter Aly Hoppe and her husband Anthony and their children: Kellin Hoppe and Amelia Isabella Hoppe and grandson Kade Carley, all of Katy TX; her best friends Ernie and Linda Simperfluty of Bartlesville, OK. Janice’s (Geemaw Jan’s) Spreading of Ashes will be done at a later date. If any Memorial contributions are made The Journey Home was always dear to her heart. As they took great care of her husband when he was dying.
