Gary Lynn Bryant

Gary Lynn Bryant went to Heaven on June 5, 2017. For the past 1 ½ years he fought a valiant battle with a very rare cancer (less than 1% of all cancers) that began in his knee for which there is currently no cure. He is survived by his wife, Francene Allsup Bryant of their home in Bartlesville, OK; and by his father, Huland J. Bryant of Dewey, OK. He was born July 19, 1954 and raised in Oklahoma City where he graduated from Putnam City High School and attended Oklahoma State University, earning an associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering. He owned and operated a business machine copier sales/service for 20 years in Oklahoma and New Mexico. He was a drummer with many years of professional experience: touring full time in show bands, numerous classic rock bands, orchestras, Christian praise bands, and he was a session drummer. In 1975 he landed a job with the professional show band 'Bare Fax' out of Okla. City and Dallas. The band worked for Southern Orchestra in Norfolk, Va. where he spent the next 3 years working and performing in motel circuits on the East coast. The band eventually moved back to the Oklahoma City area where he played for two other traveling bands through 1992. The prominent Oklahoma City talent agency featuring Al and Gary Goode, "Oklahoma Artist Bureau", provided the bookings for his band. A man of great faith, Gary was a member of 7 praise and worship groups/church orchestras spread over a 17 year period. A member of the Okla. City Christian Motorcycle Assoc., he served in two capacities: president and Chaplin. In 2001 he established his own private home recording studio and produced 15 independent CD’s, providing the drum tracks. His last band was with the Bartlesville Night Owls. The Bryant's owned a 40’ RV fifth wheel with 4 slide-out rooms equipped with Gary’s electronic drums, sound and recording equipment. One of their favorite activities was traveling the U.S.A. as campground managers.
