Gail Keith Elliott

Gail “Keith” Elliott, age 76, passed away at home, with his wife and children by his side on February 5, 2021. He was looking forward to angels escorting him into the very presence of God for eternity. Keith was born March 15, 1944 in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was the son of Edward V. Elliott and Sarah Berline (Wright) Elliott. He grew up in the South Coffeyville, Oklahoma area. He attended Snow Creek school, a one room, rural school through the 8th grade. He graduated from Lenapah High School in 1962. He then went to the Oklahoma Military Academy Jr. College where he played baseball and basketball. He got a Bachelor’s of Education degree from Phillips University in Enid, OK in 1966. He taught Jr. high science in North Enid for 3 years, then 5 years at Garfield Elementary in Coffeyville. He finished his employment at Coop Refinery, working in the laboratory for 37.5 years. He was also in the Army Reserves for 8 years. He met and married his true love, Gwenda Herriman in 1967; they were married for 53 years and he loved having her by his side all those years. They had 2 children, whom he loved dearly. Keith was a member of Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church from 1998 until his death and enjoyed the fellowship of his church. He loved to read his Bible and other spiritual books by authors who believed the way he did... the Bible is God’s holy word without error! He enjoyed memorizing Scripture and going over them when he would awake at night. He called them his Rainbow in the night. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and one brother, Edward A. Elliott. He is survived by his wife Gwenda of the home; his son Dr. Larry Shane Elliott (wife Jennifer); daughter Angela Gail Hackler (husband Curtis); three grandsons, Kaid, Konnor and Klein Hackler and two granddaughters, Kylie and Morgan Elliott; and brother Charles F. Elliott. Keith loved people and had a way of making everyone feel special. He loved serving the Lord and sharing the gospel. He had a quick wit and loved having fun and sharing funny stories. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and camping were some of his favorite activities. He was also a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and golf and rooting for the OU Sooners. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Keith’s memory to Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church.
