VIRGINIA MAE BURTON Virginia Mae Burton, 92, resident of Bartlesville, died at 11:10 AM, Saturday in Bartlesville. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Virginia Mae Burton was born on May 10, 1923 at Sand Springs the daughter of Ted Earl and Ella Mae (Park) Dodd. She was raised in Oklahoma mainly around the Delaware, Nowata County areas. She graduated from Delaware High School in1940 and went to work as a telephone operator. She was married to Paul Collins on Nov. 21, 1942 at Corpus Christy, Texas she later married Mike Burton on June 4, 1957 at Clovis, New Mexico. And they lived in War Acres and then Pawhuska where they lived until his death in 1998. She then moved to Bartlesville. She had worked for Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. She was a member of the Church of God and was baptized in a creek near Alluwe. Although she was very active in church activities at several other church throughout her life she never joined any other church. Virginia is survived by her son Michael Burton and his wife Kathy, one daughter, Lorita Hollis of Dewey four grandchildren, Sheryl Nichols, David Nichols, Stephen Burton and Courtney Graham, three great grandchildren, Baker Heath, Alexis Burton and January Heath.
