Tommie Lee Medina

Tommie Lee Medina passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. Tommie was born on December 31, 1935, to Tommie Stammer and Zella (Brashear) Stammer Brock and grew up in the Bar Dew Lake area. She attended schools in Bartlesville. A proud Wildcat, she graduated from College High School in 1953. She married Jess Medina on January 9, 1954, in Independence, Kansas. Tommie and Jess were blessed with children who were her heart - Thomas “Butch” Medina, Steve Medina (Rose), and Lisa Medina, all of Bartlesville. She loved and was adored in return by her grandchildren - Jennifer Summers of Tonkawa, Steven Medina (Jenica) of Bartlesville, Jessica Medina-Benningfield (Joey) of Stillwater, and Christopher Medina and Ryland Kerr of Bartlesville. She had five great-grandchildren she adored. It’s safe to say that every one of these grands baked their first batch of cookies when they were little enough to sit on her kitchen bar covered in flour. Her God children each had places in her heart as special as they were to her. She loved family gatherings and weekends at Grand Lake; attended almost every game, dance recital, performance, swim meet, etc., her children or grands participated in and was their biggest fan. Tommie enjoyed a long career and retirement with Public Service Company. Returning to work she eventually retired again from Arvest Bank. She was a lifelong member of St John Church. Happiest when she was busy, she belonged to the St John Women’s Association, Concern, Birthright, Bartlesville Credit Women’s Association, and the Garden Club. She was a gifted gardener; was known for whipping up breakfast in record time for early morning visitors; she gifted all the new born babies one of her beautiful, hand sewn blankets; enjoyed her Yoga classes as long as she was able to attend; and loved OU football. Extended family she considered her own were the Fabian, Inda and Holmes families, and the Tulsa girls. Tommie is survived, loved, and will be greatly missed by her family listed above and her sister, Becky LaSarge; sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews who meant everything to her. She is preceded in death by her husband she missed very much, Jess; beloved son, Steve; her parents; and sisters, Shirley Richardson and Marilyn May. Services are scheduled on Friday, September 8, at St John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church. The Rosary will be at 10:30 am, with the Mass of the Resurrection celebrated by Fr John O’Neill following at 11:00 am. Visitation at Stumpff Funeral Home is scheduled on Thursday, September 7, from 5-8 pm. Stumpff Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
