Mr. Thomas David Saffell Thomas David Saffell, passed away at home Sunday, January 1, 2012 after a long struggle with COPD. Tom Saffell was born February 12, 1935 in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma to J. Wesley and Maggie (Sellers) Saffell. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1953 and came to Bartlesville in 1954. He worked at Reda Pump for two years and attended Bartlesville Business College. He married Annette Miller in McAlester on May 15, 1955 at the Church of Christ. He was employed at Phillips Petroleum Company for 30 years working in the Engineering Dept., the Transportation Department, and the last 18 years at the Research Center working as a Lab Technician at a job he truly enjoyed, looking forward to going to work each day. He took early retirement in 1992. The Saffell’s has 20 acres on Hudson Lake Road and a “Cabin in the Woods” where he and his family enjoyed fishing and the beauties of nature. Tom enjoyed gardening, traveling, building furniture, and spending time with his 4 grandchildren. Tom served as a Deacon at the Church of Christ for over 35 years serving in the Missions and Worship Ministries. He taught Bible classes and was a faithful Christian. Mr. Saffell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annette, his two children: Brent Saffell and wife Barbara of Broken Arrow, OK and a daughter, Cheryl Sanders and husband Terrell of Edmond, OK; four grandchildren: Kayla Goodrich of Tulsa, OK, Emily Saffell of Broken Arrow, OK, Jill Shiflet of Austin, TX., and Brett Sanders of Edmond, OK; a brother, John Saffell of Crowder, OK., and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister, Lucille Champion. Funeral services for Mr. Saffell will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ with Mr. David Hammonds officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 9 P.M. Tuesday as the casket will remain closed at the services. PDF Printable Version
