Terrence "Rokay" Smith

Terrence Rokay Smith, a lifetime resident of Woodward, Oklahoma, and recently a member of the Bartlesville community, passed away in the early morning hours on August 29, 2024, with his loving sister by his side at Journey Home. He was born on January 7, 1941, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Robert (Bob) William Smith and Elsie Kathryn (Akers) Smith. His life was marked by dependability, dedication, service and his love for his family and friends. Rokay’s life journey was one of overcoming hardships, celebrating accomplishments and serving his family, faith and community. His early education began in Wichita, Kansas, then continued at Woodward Public Schools, Okmulgee Technical School and Oklahoma City University. As a dedicated employee, Rokay worked many years for OG&E, the United States Postal Service and Northwest Wholesale. Rokay found joy in punctuality, having a connection with so many people, and serving his community. Rokay enjoyed being a member of a bowling league. He had many friends at the bowling alley and earned several awards and titles over the years. Ottis Wise sponsored his team for over 20 years. Service was Rokay’s way of giving of himself to the community. The First Presbyterian Church, Jaycees, and Lion’s Club acknowledged him for his achievements and service. Rokay loved to travel, especially to see extended family members. His favorite trips were ones taken with his brother Dean. Written correspondence was such a powerful connection with friends and family for Rokay. Writing letters, even when it became extremely difficult, was his favorite hobby. His hope of receiving letters and cards in the mail each morning was the highlight in his daytime routine. His lifetime devotion to the First Presbyterian Church in Woodward, Oklahoma exemplifies his spiritual connection and commitment to his unwavering faith. Rokay was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and two brothers, William Dean Smith and Steven Ray Smith. He is survived by a sister, Debbie Wise, her husband Ottis Wise, two nieces Katheryn Elizabeth Smith and Jessica Allison. Ann Smith, and two great-nephews, Kayin Smith and Sullivyn Smith. He leaves behind many extended family members, church family members, Eldercare attendees, 55+ members, and friends who will cherish his memory and the positive impact he had on their lives. Rokay Smith will be remembered for his love of family, dedication and unwavering faith, a lasting legacy of love and service in the hearts of all who knew him.
