Teddy Joe Whistler

Mr. Teddy Joe Whistler Mr. Teddy Joe Whistler, 78, of Bartlesville, died at 3:49 P.M. on Friday, April 24, 2015. Teddy was born the 3rd of 6 children to Ida M. (Black) and Leslie J. Whistler on their farm in rural Elk City, Kansas. The family later moved to Dewey, Okla., and Ted received his education in the Dewey Public School system. He lived in Dewey most of his life and moved to Bartlesville Care Center in August of 2014. He was well known and well liked by all the people around Dewey and quickly made friends with both staff and residents at Bartlesville Care Center. He loved playing the piano and singing for them. Teddy also played the guitar and was a songwriter. Rivercross Hospice was present during his last days. The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind and loving care of him. Teddy is survived by one sister, Virginia Hadley of Bartlesville, one sister-in-law, Louise Cargill Whistler of Dewey, one brother, Edward and wife Thelma Klaudt Whistler of Kansas City, Kansas, one uncle, Marvin (Pete) and wife Jean Whistler of Coffeyville, Kansas. He is also survived by 8 nephews and 6 nieces, Diane Hadley Hinkle and husband George of Bartlesville, Connie Hadley Lockhart of Houston, Texas, Sandra Hadley Gabby and husband Mark Gabby of Bartlesville, Ricky Whistler and wife of Watsonville, Pennsylvania, Jesse Whistler and wife Cheryl of Columbus, Ohio, Rick Whistler and wife Lena of Bartlesville, Mike Whistler of Bartlesville, Timothy and wife Rebecca Whistler of Wichita, Kansas, Matthew Whistler and wife Mary of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, Stephen Whistler and wife Candi of Washington, MO., Jonathan Whistler of Kansas City, Kansas, Dia Whistler Hemmert of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Darla Whistler and husband Scott Tummond of Gainesville, Florida, Jason Whistler and wife B.J. of Chiefland, Florida, Rachel Whistler Stuckey and husband John of Chiefland, Florida, , as well as 56 great nieces and nephews and 8 great great nieces and nephews and cousins by the dozens. Those deceased before Ted were his father and mother, three brothers, Norman Ray Whistler of Dewey, Lloyd Earl Whistler of Dewey and Michael Lee Whistler of Chiefland, Florida, one nephew-in-law, Bryan Lockhart of Houston, Texas, two great nephews, Tyler Jordan Hinkle and Norman Ray (Butch) Whistler both of Bartlesville. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of God Holiness, 10th & Creek in Dewey, Oklahoma with Pastor Lloyd Parrett officiating.
