STEPHEN WARREN MILLER Stephen Warren Miller, 59, passed away Saturday, April 9th, after a courageous battle with cancer, during which time he witnessed his trust and love of the Lord to many friends and family members. A memorial service will be held at the Dewey United Methodist Church at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 13th, directed by Stumpff Funeral Home. Private family burial is planned. Steve was born May 21, 1956, to David and Evelyn (Cooper) Miller and grew up in Dewey, Oklahoma. He had a wonderful childhood attending Dewey’s Bluestem Elementary and then Dewey Jr High and High School – where he was nicknamed “Flash” by friends and teachers alike. This nickname stayed with him thru his life with his friends. Steve attended Bartlesville Wesleyan College (OWU) and then attended and graduated from Central State University (UCO) at Edmond earning a bachelor’s degree in business / retail management. He worked at Gunter Drug Store and then worked and managed Radio Shack stores in Bartlesville and Ponca City. Later he joined Xerox Business Services working on a contract with Reda / Schlumberger in Bartlesville for 16 years and then at the district office for Enterprise Leasing in Owasso/Tulsa. He loved making friends with all he worked with – and many of these friends helped care for him after he became ill. Steve married Gayle (Jabben) Pickle on March 16, 1991, enjoying life with her for 25 years. Upon this marriage, he immediately became a dad to Briana and later grandpa to Dylan and Kassidy. He cherished his role of dad and grandpa every day and was so thankful to be in their lives. Steve was a member of the Dewey United Methodist Church (attending since birth) where he had served as chairman of the administrative board, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, assisted with Bible Schools, performed in special events, including the Living Last Supper, and many other events. His church and church family were very important to him as well and is also where he met Gayle. Steve coached softball when he was young and also coached Special Olympics volleyball for several years. He enjoyed playing tennis with the Dewey Tennis Association and also bowled on a league with his dad. He was a huge sports fan including Nascar and he enjoyed camping and especially vacation time with Gayle and spending time with the grandkids. Branson / Table Rock Lake was his favorite vacation destination. His life was surely one where he lived and loved. Steve is survived by his wife Gayle, daughter Briana (Pickle) Gore and grandchildren Dylan and Kassidy Gore. He is also survived by his brother David and Marilyn Miller and family of Urbana, Ohio; and aunts and uncles Katie and Ron Wilson, W Lafayette, IN; Mary Lu and Manny Molho, Rochester, IN; Pat Fitch of Bartlesville; Elaine Dancer, Carrollton, TX; and Peggy Cooper, Dade City, FL.
