ROY HILERY MELTON Roy Hilery Melton, 79, of Bartlesville, retired Bartlesville Firefighter and Assistant Chief died Thursday, February 2, 2012. Funeral Services for Mr. Melton will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dave Hammonds of the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ Officiating. Funeral services and cremation are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory of Bartlesville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Bartlesville Professional Firefighters, P.O. Box 1336, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005. Mr. Melton was born on October 17, 1932 at Lincoln Arkansas to Ralph and H. Corine (Green) Melton. He grew up and received his education at Hulbert, OK., graduating from high school there in 1950. He made his home in Wichita, Kansas for 6 years where he was employed by Cudahy Meat Co. as a butcher. He was married to Anna Belle Keener on July 31, 1951 in Alabama. They moved to Wichita, and they made their home there until coming to Bartlesville in 1957. She preceded him in death in 1963. After moving to Bartlesville he started his Firefighting career with the City of Bartlesville where he was a firefighter for over 20 years, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief in 1980. He was later married to Patricia “Pat” Large on April 18, 1966, at Bartlesville, and they made their home in Dewey, and later Bartlesville. They enjoyed traveling across the United States, and attending horse races all over the country. He was a member of the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ. Mr. Melton was a devoted Christian and Family man and loved his family. He was a great father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and a great friend. He will be missed by many. Mr. Melton is survived by his wife Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Melton, of the home, one son Roy H. Melton Jr. of Bartlesville, one daughter Mrs. Pamela Bandy and husband Scott of Tulsa, by two sisters, Euretta Copeland, of Dewey and Maxine Thornhill of Hulbert, OK., by five grandchildren Brock Price and Caprice Frye, both of Dewey, Mrs. Cori Lyon and husband Mike of Tulsa, Mrs. Evyn Wills and husband Ryan of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Paige Melton, of Tulsa; 6 great grandchildren, Whitney, Sinjin, Harley, Hutson, Scott, and Nate. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents, and by a daughter and son-in- law Ann and Dean Price, and by two brothers, Ralph & Elmer Melton. PDF Printable Version
