Perry John Dickey

Perry John Dickey, faithful husband and beloved father, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on August 5, 1929, in Denver, Colorado, Perry was the son of Perry Hayes Dickey and Mary Bullock Dickey, and the younger brother of Ellen Lea Pulliam, all of whom preceded him in death. His niece, Charlee Pulliam also preceded him in death. Perry’s early years in Denver shaped his character – curious, kind, and determined. He graduated from East High in 1947 and went on to earn both a Bachelor of Science in Law and a Juris Doctor from Denver University in 1956. His sense of duty led him to serve with distinction in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, an experience that deeply influenced his perspective on life and resilience. In 1953, Perry married Ila Rae Anderson in Denver, beginning a partnership that would span more than seven decades. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and an insatiable curiosity about the world. Their marriage was a true partnership-one that inspired us daily and set a standard for devotion and respect. Perry’s professional journey began with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1957, taking our family from Houston to Amarillo, Texas, before settling in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1963. He retired in 1985 as Director of Real Estate and Insurance and as an officer of the company, having made a lasting impact through his integrity, leadership, and thoughtful approach to every challenge. Retirement for Perry was the start of a new adventure. Freed from the constraints of work, he and Ila set out to see the world together. From the sun-drenched coasts of the Mediterranean to the bustling markets of Asia, and from the ancient ruins of South America to the quiet beauty of the Canadian Rockies, Mom and Dad traveled extensively, always eager to learn, explore, and connect with new cultures. Their journeys were filled with stories-some hilarious, some profound-all of them reminders of their shared spirit of adventure. Whether sailing through the fjords of Norway, hiking in the Swiss Alps, or savoring street food in Southeast Asia, they found joy in every corner of the globe, and their travel albums are a testament to a life lived fully and together. Closer to home, Dad was an avid fisherman, once recognized by Oklahoma Governor Dewey Bartlett as one of the state’s most accomplished fishermen and fishing guides – a distinction he tried to ignore. Perry loved the water and many of our fondest memories come from white water canoe trips, water skiing, sailing, and fishing. Perry was more than a father; he was an anchor and supporter for a large extended family. He listened more than he spoke, but when he did, his words were thoughtful and wise. His gentle humor, steady presence, and unwavering loyalty shaped our lives and the lives of everyone who knew him. Perry is survived by his children Brad (Amy) of Bartlesville OK, Mark (Ellen) of North Sioux City SD, and Susan Langston (Kevin) of Liberty Hill TX, niece Sheryl Pulliam of Westcliffe CO, and daughter-in-law Sandra Dickey of Edmond OK. We will miss his steady hand, his infectious love of life, and his boundless curiosity. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived, a marriage well-loved, and a father who made every moment matter. Services will be May 10th at 10 am in the chapel at Green Country Village, with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetary.
