Paul Whinery

Mr. Paul Whinery Mr. Paul Whinery, 82, of Barnsdall, died at 6:35 P.M. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey, Oklahoma. Memorial services for Mr. Whinery will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Lighthouse Family Worship Center in Barnsdall with Pastor Barry Gott officiating and assisted by Ryan Gott. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Barnsdall Funeral Home. Mr. Whinery was born at Muskogee, Oklahoma on July 13, 1932 the son of Robert M. (Bob) and Lona Anderson (Cole) Whinery. They moved to Barnsdall when Paul was a child and he received his schooling in Barnsdall. He joined the 145th Anti Aircraft Artillery, Thunderbird National Guard at Pawhuska, Oklahoma in 1948-49 and in 1950 they were inducted into the Army’s 45th Division. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and received his Honorable Discharge in July of 1952. He was married to Beverly Ann Davis on August 11, 1952 and they were married for over 62 years. Paul worked at Bareco Petrolite as a welder for 20 years until retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Lighthouse Family Worship Center in Barnsdall. He loved playing his guitar and singing hymns with his brother, Gene. They sang and played gospel music at churches and nursing home and Mr. Whinery wrote and sang many gospel songs. He enjoyed hunting rabbits and coon and also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ann Whinery, two sons, Jackie Whinery and Tommy both of Barnsdall, four brothers, Orville Whinery and wife Alice of Pampa,, Texas, Gene Whinery and wife Denver of Pawhuska, Bill Whinery and wife Martha of Bartlesville, and Bobby Whinery of Avant, two sisters, Rose Ann “Bunny” Scarbough and husband John and Della Mae Cole, all of Chester, Georgia, two sister-in-laws, Lila Whinery of Dewey and Pat Whinery of Avant, six grandchildren, Michael Climer, Katie Whinery, Whitney Dahl, Ryan Tyler Dahl, Paul Schmidt and Tyler Ray Schmidt, and three great grandchildren, Gage Whinery, Jazlyn Emmons and Kason Emmons. Mr. Whinery was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Danny Whinery, a daughter, Cynthia Ann Schmidt, three sisters, his twin, Pauline Whinery, Alice Elsworth and Leatha “Toots” Cato, and two brothers, Albert “Cracker” Whinery and Thurman Whinery.
