Norma Carolyn Perkins

Norma Carolyn Smith-Perkins, age 83, of Skiatook, passed away at 7:15am Tuesday, August 30, 2022. She was born on October 29, 1938, to Wilbur and Mildred Smith in Kingsville, TX. Norma spent part of her childhood living in Liberal, KS until her family moved to Skiatook, OK for her father’s work. She then attended Skiatook Public Schools and graduated from Skiatook High School in 1956. After high school she attended college at Oklahoma State University and later at Northeastern State University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in education. After teaching the fourth grade at Skiatook Schools for a few years, she had the opportunity to obtain her master’s degree in Library Media Specialist at the University of Tulsa. She then became the librarian for Skiatook Public School’s Newman Middle School until her retirement. During her time at Oklahoma State University she married her sweetheart Ellison Edwin Perkins of Skiatook, Oklahoma. Norma and Ellison were married for 51 beautiful years. They built their forever home on the family farm where they raised their two sons Eric and Todd Perkins. Norma loved antiquing with her friends and spending time with her church group ladies. She loved her family fiercely and made sure they always had enough to eat, even if they were full! She was a God fearing lady who put the Lord first and did all things through him. Norma is survived by her son Eric Perkins; daughter-in-law, Emily Perkins; granddaughter and grandson, Bethany Bersche and Ellison Perkins; grandson son-in-law, Jeremy Bersche; granddaughter-in-law, Taylor Rogers; grandchildren, Paisley and Lilly Bersche; along with her sister-in-law, Patty Smith of Kettle Falls, Washington. Norma was preceded in death by her father and mother Wilbur and Mildred Smith; brother, Larry Smith; son, Todd Perkins and grandson; Paul Perkins. The family’s deepest appreciation goes to Kendra Soley with Stumpff Funeral Home of Skiatook, Ok whom the Cremation and funeral services will be directed by. Norma’s memorial service will be held on Friday September 2nd, 2022, at 4pm at Skiatook’s First Baptist Church west Rogers location.
