Nelda Fern Taylor

Nelda Fern “Collins” Taylor, age 82, went to her heavenly home on May 25, 2024 at the Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK. She was surround by those she loved. Nelda was born on October 31, 1941 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Manuel Andrew and Ethel Mae “Cole” Collins. Nelda was raised in Barnsdall after spending a short time in California with her family. She attended Barnsdall Schools through her junior year. In July 1959, she married W. A. “Sam” Loggins and moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma. She attended Cleveland High School her senior year, graduating in May 1960. In 1961, Sam and Nelda moved back to Barnsdall where they made their home, raising 2 children, Rick and Vicky. In 1984, Nelda married Carl Taylor and they were married for 29 years until Carl’s death in 2014. Nelda worked most of her life in retail sales, starting as a clerk at Blake’s Grocery Store in Barnsdall. She worked for Barnsdall Schools for several years as the elementary school secretary. Then she finished the remainder of her career working for Walmart until her retirement from the Skiatook store where she worked as a pharmacy tech. Nelda enjoyed growing flowers, spending time outdoors and helping at the Shirley Cook Memorial Food Bank. She was a member of the Barnsdall Free Will Baptist Church. Nelda is survived by her son, Rick Loggins and his wife, Janice of Barnsdall; her daughter, Vicky Tarwater and her husband, Paul of Barnsdall; her stepsons Justin Taylor and his wife Ashly of Wynona, and Jay Taylor and his partner Nikki, of Barnsdall. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons. Nelda is also survived by her sister, Velma Hansen of Avant, Oklahoma and brother, Eddie Collins of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and her friend, Charles Bogan, and many nieces and nephews. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl and her brother, Roy Collins. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be given to the Shirley Cook Memorial Food Bank, PO Box 328, Barnsdall OK 74002. A memorial service celebrating Nelda’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024 at the Barnsdall Assembly of God Church, 120 N. 3rd Street, Barnsdall, Oklahoma.
