Mrs. Myrtie Bess Jones Mrs. Myrtie Bess Jones, 80, formerly of Bartlesville, died at 3:03 P.M. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, January 28, 2013 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joe Dan Fowler officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. The Jones family will receive guests for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from3 P.M. until 5 P.M. A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children in Owasso, 12700 E. 76th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Mrs. Jones was born to Merritt Glen and Maud Corea (Bossart) Childers on July 9, 1932 at Hillsdale, Oklahoma. She was married to Jack Odell Jones on September 19, 1970 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She attended grade school in Enid, Oklahoma and moved to a farm in Kremlin, Oklahoma where she attended and completed school in Hillsdale, graduating as Valedictorian in 1950. After graduation she began working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and moved to Great Lakes, Illinois in 1954, to Long Beach, California in 1956 and to Bartlesville in 1957. She then worked in the computing department in Bartlesville for 10 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville where she volunteered in the nursery for several years and participated in Women Missionary United and Women on Mission. She had also been active in PTA, as a Brownie and Cub Scout leader and Jacee-ettes. She collected antiques and liked China painting and home decorating. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Jack O. Jones of the home in Joplin, a daughter, Sheila Anne Couch and husband Chris of Joplin, Mo., one son, Jimmie Edward Green Jr. of Joplin, Mo., a step-son, David Lynn Jones and wife Sue of St. Louis, Mo., a sister, Lee Myers and husband Danny of Bixby, grandchildren, Ashlee Couch, Nathan Couch and fiancée Crystal Hagee, Riley Green, Keith Jones and Laura Reeder and husband Logan and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Terri Lynn Green and Susan Gayle Green in 1977, her parents, Merritt and Maud Childers, three brothers, William L. Childers, Glen Childers and Riley Childers and three sisters, Barbara Arnold, Marian Bengston and Elsie Childers. PDF Printable Version
