Michael Morris

Michael (Mike, Mikey, Mikee) Ryan Morris was born February 7, 1973, in Dickinson, ND, and passed away on July 27, 2024 in Fayetteville, AR, at the age of 51. He was the son of Jocelyn (Geiser) and Fred Morris and as a baby, moved with his family to Norman, OK, where his father attended the University of Oklahoma and Mike began his lifelong love affair with the Oklahoma Sooners. He wasn’t Sooner born, but he was most assuredly Sooner bred. Three years later the family moved to Bartlesville, where the first words out of the neighbor lady’s mouth was “Do y’all like the Sooners?” A few days later on game day, a friend of the neighbor’s pulled up in his RV with the horn blaring “Boomer Sooner” and Michael’s young brain was indelibly colored in crimson and cream. Michael attended Hoover Elementary school during the school year and spent his summers at Sooner Pool where he learned to swim like a fish. He then discovered his true love and played quarterback on the Madison Jr. High football team. He ran into stiff competition and lost the quarterback job when he graduated and moved up to Bartlesville High, but soon decided he liked playing linebacker even better because he got to hit people instead of people hitting him. Michael earned a degree in Safety Management from Northeastern State Univ. in Tahlequah, OK, and then worked for Spears Manufacturing in Caney, KS, for ten years before moving to Arkansas where he had spent many summers with his paternal grandparents. He worked for a succession of manufacturing companies throughout Arkansas before finally ending up at Marshalltown Company in Fayetteville. He loved that job and the area. He also liked the fact that he was close to his father and new adopted mother. Michael was predeceased by his mother Jocelyn in 2015 and his brother Damian in 2019. He is survived by his father, Fred and wife Jamie; his sister Wendy and husband John Stamp; his sister Monique (Nicki) and husband Jon Everhart; and best-buddy-just-like-a-brother Tom Powell and wife Marilyn; three sons Garrett, Michael and Deylon; and stepson Raul. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael Ryan Morris can be sent to Mary Martha Outreach, Box 314, Bartlesville, OK 74005.
