Louis Carroll Scott

Thomas Scott, Jr. and Mary Hardrick-Scott welcomed their only son Louis Carroll Scott on January 14, 1946. Louis was raised by Thomas, Sr. and Corrine Scott (paternal grandparents) in Coffeyville, Kansas, where he attended Douglass Elementary School from kindergarten through the third grade. Louis then resided with his maternal grandparents Jefferson and Tobitha Hardrick (maternal grandparents) in Nowata, Oklahoma. It was in Nowata, Oklahoma that Louis attended Lincoln School and graduated from Nowata Senior High School. Louis was an athlete and involved in the sport of football at Nowata Senior High School. At the very young age of eleven, Louis accepted Christ as his Savior and was Baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church under the pastoral ship of Rev. Willis White. Louis later enlisted into the United States Army on December 18, 1968. Louis served in the Vietnam War and was wounded in battle. Louise received a Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Starts, The Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, a Combat Infantryman Badge (1st Award), Bronze Star Medal, First Class Gunner (81 mm Mort), Markman (.45 Cal) and a Certificate of Nomination in Appreciation of Honorable Service in the Armed Forces. August 11, 1969, Louis attended the Muskogee County School District in Columbus, Georgia where he received a certificate in Data Processing. Louis was married to Donna Wilson-Scott. The two had married on August 25, 1974. Louis was employed for various companies in the Bartlesville area. In his early years, Louis worked for Phillips Petroleum Company Research Center, TRW Reda Pump and Crossland Construction. Louis loved the Lord and his family. Louis later rededicated his life to the Lord and became a member of the Greater First Baptist Church Family in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Louis is preceded in death by his father (Thomas Scott, Jr.), mother (Mary Hardrick-Scott), son (Charles Sayles-Scott) and daughter (baby Lindsay). Louis is survived by his only sister (Brenda Scott-Dent), daughter (Charmaine and Jimmy Godwin, Jr. of Slocomb, AL), son (Mauleek Scott of Okmulgee, OK), son (Eric and Brittany Scott of Edmond, OK); close friend and ex-wife (Donna Wilson-Scott); grandchildren: (Brittney, Jimmy, III, Kelly, Mariah Diane, Monica, Marcus, Markell, Ariana Lee and Krislyn Diane; great-grandchildren: Amariana, Alilyana and Armani; two aunts (Ethel Colbert and Gwendolyn Meigs); nephews (Shawn and Trence) nieces (Lee Ann and Tonya) and a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins.
