Lonnie & Janice Erwin

Lonnie Cline Erwin born January 12, 1943, passed away June 15th, 2024. Janice Joline Erwin born October 14th, 1941 passed away June 16th, 2024. Their final days were spent together at home surrounded by their loved ones. They both were born and raised in Coffeyville, Kansas. Lonnie was reared west of town on a farm and Janice was in-town just across the railroad tracks within walking distance. They attended Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, Ks. Janice graduated in 1959 and Lonnie in 1961. They were high school sweethearts and married on July 6th, 1963. The Erwins moved to Bartlesville, OK where Lonnie was employed at Phillips Petroleum Company. He was a Sales and Use Tax Specialist for 35 years. Janice was a homemaker when the children were young. She returned to the workforce as a secretary at the Educational Service Center in Bartlesville for 10 years. They were actively involved in their children's activities such as baseball, softball, or gymnastics. Lonnie would coach, umpire, or keep the book while Janice cheered from the stands. Lonnie was a talented wood-turner and crafted many beautiful pieces, he would sell at craft fairs. Janice accompanied Lonnie to craft fairs and praised her husband's work to all. She was an active volunteer at Bartlesville Public Schools. They were active in their church serving in different areas, Janice in the nursery, and Lonnie on mission trips. Once Lonnie retired, they moved their family home to Dewey, OK where they remained until their final days. Affectionately known as The Farm, they raised cattle, grew their own vegetables, and taught the grandkids about farm life. In their later years, they enjoyed family gatherings, tinkering on the farm, and attending their grandchildren's activities. They took great pride in the family farm and hosted many gatherings of friends and family. Lonnie and Janice are survived by 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Sheri Erwin and Mike Phillips and furbaby Trouble. Tracy Erwin and his wife Casey and their children Sidney Erwin, Tyler Erwin, Jacey Templeton, and her fiance Deandre Thomas, Jake Swart, Justin Swart, and Joel Swart. Sara Erwin and Robert Foulk, and her children TC Heuertz, Joshua Heuertz, Jolee Heuertz, and Levi Heuertz. Great grandson Bentley Templeton and many other nieces and nephews. With open arms and loving hearts, they had a way of embracing others who needed a mother, father, or grandparent and loved them as their own. Lonnie is survived by one sister Janice Mitchell and her husband Tim and a brother Dick Erwin. Janice is survived by one sister Joyce Vandermark. Lonnie and Janice's Celebration of Life will be held June 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Highland Park Baptist Church. They will be laid to rest at Dewey Cemetery during a private graveside service at a later date.
