Lola Wauneta Wells Lola Wauneta Wells took her much anticipated journey home on January 22, 2015 at 6:15 am. She was 88 years old. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Barnsdall OK with Jim Brunk and Pat Andrews officiating under the direction of the Stumpff Barnsdall Funeral Service. Wauneta was born on February 8, 1926 at Caney, Kansas to Otho Vern and Hazel McKellips Wynn. She was raised in the Caney area, moving to Tallant Ok when she was ten years old. She and Harley Gene Kelley were married on June 6, 1943 in Tulsa, OK. They were blessed with three sons. Due to injuries resulting from a car accident, Harley preceded her in death on April 8, 1950. She and the boys continued living on the family farm north of Barnsdall. She stated that her and her boys grew up together. Wauneta entered the work force working several places until being employed by Doc Cullop at his insurance agency and worked for him until his death then purchasing the business in 1964. In 1977 she retired from life as an insurance agent and began selling Real Estate in the Barnsdall area. She married W. A. "Bill" Wells on June 15, 1961 at First Baptist Church, Barnsdall. Bill brought a son and daughter to the marriage enlarging their family. Wauneta was very active in her community participating in the Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce for many years and was a founding member of the Barnsdall Development Corporation, serving as President several times. She worked along with others in making it possible for Barnsdall to have a health care facility. At the time of her death, she was Vice-President of the BDC. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church, Barnsdall having accepting the Lord as her Savior and joining that fellowship shortly after marrying into the Kelley family. Her Mother-in-law encouraged her to attend and was very influential in Wauneta's young life. Wauneta called her Mother in Law her very best friend. But her greatest loves were her church and her family. She was happiest when she had her family around her and was known for her home cooking--especially her fried chicken. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to go. Her hospitality knew no limit. Wauneta is survived by three sons. Larry Kelley and wife Evelyn of Barnsdall; Danny Wells and wife Norma of Bartlesville, and Bob Kelley and wife Linda of Barnsdall and a daughter in law Dorothy Kelley Aultz of Barnsdall. She had 12 grandchildren, twenty seven great grand children and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one son Jerry Kelley, one daughter Billie Wells Hamby and her granddaughter Dana Crabtree. She is going to be so greatly missed by her family but we rejoice in knowing that her faith has become sight and we will be eternally grateful for the legacy of faith she has passed along to her family.
