Lisa Wray Smith

Lisa Wray (Tibbetts) Smith, 52, passed away July 10, 2011, her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family and friends in the care of her sister. Lisa was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on April 17, 1959. Lisa moved with her family to Elk City in 1965, and moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma in December, 1973. Lisa stayed in the Skiatook and Tulsa area for the rest of her life. She graduated from Skiatook High School in 1977. She then worked for 30 years at the Tulsa Tribune/Tulsa World, from which she retired in 2008. Lisa then began a new career as a dental assistant in Tulsa. She was a member of Victory Christian Church in Tulsa, OK. During Lisa's years at the Tulsa Tribune and Tulsa World, she spent many hours annually working on the Neediest Family Fund in the Tulsa area. She also was the representative who escorted the Oklahoma winners of the state spelling bees to Washington D.C. each year. Lisa never let her battle with cancer change her perspective on life with the memorable words she left us behind." There are no bad days, just good, better and best." She always brought a gentle smile and loving words bringing hope and courage to everyone around her. Lisa loved her family and friends . Lisa enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, as well as gardening and was proud of her flowers. She was a devoted mother, and a devoted friend to so many. Lisa will be remembered for her beautiful smile, and her goodness toward her friends, and her great energy and vibrant personality. Lisa was preceded in death by her infant son, James Smith. Lisa is survived by her two children; daughter Julia Ann Smith, Tulsa, OK; son Randall K. Smith and wife Haley, stationed in El Paso, TX; her parents Don and Nancy Tibbetts, Dallas, TX; brother Kenny and wife Valorie Tibbetts, Elk City, OK; sister Christy and husband Steve Treat , Skiatook, OK; sister Donna and husband Todd Cash, Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Adalynn J. Smith, nephews Sam and Chris Treat, Ryan Cash; nieces Jessica Treat, Lindsay and Taylor Cash.,.l Lisa and her family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation off all the love and support given by her extraordinary friends. And a special thanks too, Josh, with Saint Francis Hospice for all the support and care provided. A private family burial will be held in Elk City in honor of Lisa's wishes.
