Kathy Elizabeth Brown

Kathy Elizabeth Brown, age 73, of Independence, Kansas, was called home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2026, surrounded by loving family, peacefully in her sleep. Born on April 22, 1953, she lived a life centered around family, gardening and sewing. On October 20, 1972, Kathy married Steven Clay Brown; he was the love of her life. 53 years of marriage is quite a journey and together they shared a life most would strive for. Walking side by side and holding hands was the only way they'd walk, and they held hands until her final breath. Kathy leaves behind a legacy through her children and grandchildren: Tiffany & Gabe Roberts (Jude, Elynn, Gracyn and Arya), and Tammy & Tim Carroll (Brett, Britta, Branch, Brynlee, Bronson, Bronwyn and Bryce) Kathy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Curtis and Leon Williams; her brothers, Gene Williams, Tim Williams, Terry Williams, and her sisters, Elaine Workman and Ladonna Pickett. She was blessed with eleven siblings, whom she spent many years creating memories with that included the best family potluck dinners and a full house at the holidays; a gift her children are thankful to have grown up being a part of. Eugene Williams(Pearl), Etta Shanks (Jerry), Wanda Pate, Carol Bath (Boyd), Veva Schwatken (Wilbur), Elaine Workman (Richard), Ladonna Pickett (Bill), Ben Williams (Karen), Richard Williams (Barb), Terry Williams (Sandy), Tim Williams (Debbie) all loved her dearly and called her "Sister", as well as a host of nieces and nephews who all called her, "Aunt Kathy". Throughout her 73 years, Kathy found great joy in sewing and gardening. She gave many of her quilts to her daughters and grandchildren. She learned her skill from her mother, Leon Williams. Kathy was a tremendous help with VBS, Sunday school and was a beloved teacher for many years at Noah's Arkademy. She shared countless stories of the children she taught and spoke about them even in her final days. Kathy's earthly journey has concluded, but her life in Heaven brings us the promise of seeing her again. Please join Kathy's family for a graveside service on June 23, 2026 at 10:00 am at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
