Juanita J. Anders

Juanita Jean (Epple) Anders (87) of Nowata, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2020 at Bartlesville Assisted Living in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Her beautiful smile would make your heart melt. Juanita was born the daughter of James B. Epple and Elena Fern Kniffen on January 26, 1933 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was a long-time resident of Nowata, Oklahoma, where she resided with her husband, Herman E. Anders, who preceded in her death on January 15, 2013. Juanita graduated from Talala High School in 1952, where she proudly played on the women’s basketball team. She continued her love for basketball and was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan, among several other teams. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs baseball team and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a very competitive bingo player at Nowata Senior Citizens and later at Bartlesville Assisted Living. Juanita worked at Marcus Mfg. sewing factory in Nowata for many years. She enjoyed her Friday night bowling league with her co-workers--one of the only things she ever did for herself. After the sewing factory closed she was employed by Sinclair Oil Company as their office manager until she retired in 1992 at the coaxing of her husband in order to be his “co-pilot” on his 18-wheeler. They traveled all over the United States for many years and enjoyed sharing this adventure together. Juanita had four children, which she cherished and loved with all her heart, with her former husband, Cecil Hewitt. James Hewitt and his wife, Anita of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Floyd Hewitt and his wife, Marsha Hewitt of Nowata, Oklahoma; David Hewitt and his wife Sharyl of Nowata, Oklahoma; and Joyce Hewitt DeJarnette of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, also six stepchildren, Patricia Wilson, Bill Anders, Esther Schonherr, Gene Anders, Eddie Anders, and Gail Page. She is survived by one brother, John L. Epple of Dewey, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elena Epple; three sisters, Delores Lay, Cecilia Elliott, Bonnie Spurgeon; two brothers, Charles Epple and James (Sonny) Epple; along with one stepson, Gene Anders; two grandsons, Barry Lee Hewitt and T. J. Page; and one granddaughter, Alecia Kay Hewitt. Juanita has twenty-three grandchildren. Barry Hewitt who preceded in her death, Brian Hewitt of Nowata; Bradley Hewitt of Nowata; Blane Hewitt of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Angela Sherman of Bartlesville; Shaunna McKee of Nowata; Jamie Zherebnenko of Ramona; Jennifer Hewitt of Bartlesville; Austin DeJarnette of Chicago, Illinois; Nicki Soma of Wagoner; Mandy Anders of Tulsa; Pam Patteson of Nowata; T. J. Page, Sam Page, Lynn Anders and Machelle Young of Bartlesville; Randy Young of Caney, Kansas; Jessica Schonherr, Willy Anders, Nina Anders, Geneva Lippert, Lacey Henderson and Jacob Anders of Nowata. She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was blessed with the warmest and kindest care of her special caregivers that she loved and who loved her as their own mother. Rikki, Tina, Christel, Zamuel, Shelby, Dani and Angela, and the tiniest of caregivers, Paislee Mae, who loved and took care of “her Nita” with all her heart. Visitation will be held at the Stumpff -Nowata Funeral Home on Monday April 20, 2020 from 3 PM until 8 PM. Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel in Bartlesville with Gene Hewitt officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday at the Fairview Cemetery in Tala, Oklahoma directed by the Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home.
