Joe William Griggs Jr.

Joe William Griggs, Jr. age 70, lost his battle with Cancer on Friday, February 23, 2024, at his home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Joe was born July 4,1954 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the son of Joe William Griggs, Sr. and Pearl June (Hall) Griggs. Joe attended Dewey High School. Joe married Samilee (Rumple) Griggs and settled in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Joe later married Terri Griggs on July 10, 2000, and they celebrated 23 years of marriage in 2023. Joe was employed with the City of Bartlesville at a young age then went to Superior Casting in the Foundry in Dewey, Oklahoma. He was later employed with PM Company then left to work for Hillcrest Country Club. Joe retired from the Hillcrest Country Club where he was the groundskeeper for over 20 years. Joe loved his landscaping and gardening. Joe was respected by the many friends he met at the Country Club during his tenor there. Joe also loved fishing and hunting with their coonhounds and spending time with his Grandchildren and his brother Robert. Joe was a man of few words but could tell you some of the best stories. In thinking of Joe, he will be best remembered by his loved ones for his willingness and love he showed his family and helping them with anything they needed. Joe was a loving, giving and caring person and such is evidenced by the deep sorrow and pain in the family’s hearts from his passing. Joe led a good life and slipped away peacefully in his home with his wife, Terri, by his side. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by one daughter, Crystal Young, brothers, Mike Eugene Digney and Freddie Griggs, one sister, Alta Griggs (Bond) and granddaughter, Sara Marsh. Joe is survived by his wife, Terri Griggs, one son, George Griggs and his wife, Heather of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, daughters, Lilly McChesney, and her husband, Jeff of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Kelly Leeson of Louisiana, One Brother, Robert Griggs of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Granddaughters, Samilee Dobbs, Leslie Griggs, Mirriam Chyuka Griggs, Chastity Leeson, Brittanie Marsh, Addy and Aubri Hawk, and Grandsons, Walker Griggs, William Leeson and Ryan McChesney, and many nieces and nephews. A private family remembrance will be held in honor of Joe.
