Jessie Ray Dakotah Smith

Army Calvary Scout and beloved Bartlesville husband and father/bonus dad of 8 children, Jessie “Dakotah” Ray Smith died at his home on September 20th, 2022. He was 37 Years old. Jessie Dakotah; born in Bartlesville, was the son of Jessie Leon Smith Jr. (Debra) and Kathy Diane Williams Faulkner (and the late Melvin Faulkner). Survivors including his parents are his wife Misti of the home, and his children and bonus children; Shyanne, Jessie Leon III, Gabriella, Sawyer, Shaye Burrell (Luke), Jacob Stewart, Eryn Stewart (Logan), and Tyler Stewart, and one bonus grandson Dean. He is also survived by siblings Tina Davis (Johnny), Chiloe Isaacs (Ricky), Shane Smith (Heather), Tim Countryman (Amy), Aaron Countryman (Jennifer), Brandy Britto, Dustin Faulkner, and Tiffany Riddle (Ronald). And also his grandfather, “Grandpa Gene” Morrison. Dakotah has numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his sister Amanda “Mandy” Countryman Whaling; Stepfather Melvin Faulkner; Grandparents Buck and Mae Anderson, Leon Smith, Hazel Smith, Billie Morrison, Harris “Bud” Fry Jr, and Lily Fry. Born on Veterans Day, November 11th, 1984; In the wake of September 11th, Dakotah enlisted in the U.S. Army upon his Dewey High School graduation in 2003. He served as a Calvary Scout with the U.S. Army in South Korea, Germany, and in Iraq, During his service, he received several awards and commendations among which were for good conduct, Korean defense, and serving in combat. He retired in 2010 with an honorable discharge related to disability. He was born to serve his country and did so proudly. He was truly a hero. Dakotah continued his education and was an excellent student receiving a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, medical coding, and certificates in professional development in the Army, and in welding. He worked hard and was a 4.0 student. He was a member at Humble Road Church and had a love of the outdoors. An adventurer at heart, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had many adventures in his all too short lifetime, which included kickboxing, bull riding, and riding his Harley. And on any given Saturday in the fall, he could be found cheering or yelling at his favorite college football team the OU Sooners. Most importantly, he had given his life to Jesus, and truly had a marked change in his life. We now wait to meet him in glory along with many others who have gone before us. A closed casket visitation will be held Sunday September 25 from 12:00PM to 4:00PM followed by a closed casket formal visitation from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. A funeral service will be held Monday September 26 at 2:00PM at Bartlesville First Baptist Church.
