Jerry Lee Morgan

Jerry was born on May 29, 1953, to parents James Paul Morgan and Shallot Stevens in Marion, North Carolina. He graduated in 1971 from McDowell High School in Marion as that year’s salutatorian, however, he continued to be bitter at losing the valedictorian honor by ½ of a percent. He received a full-ride scholarship to his dream school, UNC, Chapel Hill. He retired as a textile mill employee from Burlington Industries, a family tradition. Jerry’s hobbies and interests were UNC College Basketball, politics, travel, a weather enthusiast, history, and space-moon walk. Jerry met Pam Tuckett in Marion, North Carolina, in August of 1991, while Pam was serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and she stayed 9 months of an 18 month mission in Jerry’s hometown. Jerry joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in June of 1991, where Pam had the honor to teach Jerry the after baptism gospel discussions. Jerry has served faithfully in the Church as a Ward Clerk to several different Bishops, as an early morning seminary teacher and an Elders Quorum Teacher. Jerry and Pam were married on May 22, 2003, in Nauvoo, IL. He left the life of a hermit and married into a large family of 50+ people and growing. Jerry moved from the only place he had ever lived, for almost 50 years, to be with his wife who was living in the Northeast corner of Missouri, where it got cold for a southern boy. Jerry and Pam moved from Missouri to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in the year 2013. Jerry suffered many health issues throughout his life, but always pushed through and bounced back determined to overcome his issues. In 2018, he had a devastating illness that caused his left leg to be amputated. There were hard times, but through it all, he remained positive and worked hard to become almost completely independent. He felt that he had not completed his mission here on earth. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Shallot Stevens, father James Paul Morgan, and his brother-in-law Michael Carder. He is survived by his wife Pamela Tuckett Morgan, sisters Janice (Larry) Peck and Paulette Carder; mother and father-in-law Roberta and William Tuckett, brothers-in-law, Ray (Sarah) Tuckett, David (Sandy) Tuckett, and Kevin ( Evelyn) Tuckett; sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Tim) Ruggles, Lynne (Keith) Hansen, Teresa (Doug) Nufer, and Alisha (Matt) Molen; nieces and nephews, Shiloh (Amy) Carder, Brandy Carder, Mary (Mitch) Buckley, Ryan (Amber) Tuckett, Aubrie (Kyle) Leslie, Amy (Glen) Gunnell, Alayna (Geoff) Townsend, Abby (Kylin) Brimhall, Alison (Mike) Homer, Natalie (Wes) Galbraith, Jennifer (Patrick) Balisi, Kailey (Jake) Albrechtsen, Connor (Natalie) Tuckett, Tyler (Amy Jo) Hansen, Jared (Allison) Hansen, Brett (Tylee) Hansen, Tanner Hansen, Jake Hansen, Matt Hansen, Jonathon (Teresa) Nufer, Holly (Rowdy) Roulston, Merrisa (Praveen) Subramarian, Hannah (Jared) Whitaker, Josh Nufer, Cameron Molen, Cassidy Molen, Kennedy Molen, and 46 great nieces and nephews.
