Jason Patrick Atherton

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jason Patrick Atherton, who left this world at the age of 54. Jason was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His life was a testament to love, kindness, and the joy of family. Jason had a deep love for the ocean, finding his happiest moments on the beaches of South Padre, Texas, boogie boarding with his family. He had a passion for cooking, always bringing people together over a good meal, and was gifted with his hands—whether fixing cars, working on his property, or diving into full house renovations that often began with a surprise project from his wife, the light of his life. A man of great wisdom, he was always ready to sit with you, listen, and help solve any problem, offering steady guidance and thoughtful advice. He spent his time bringing his family together, whether overboard games, holidays, or epic Dungeons & Dragons adventures, creating memories that would last a lifetime. For 25 years, Jason built a respected career in IT at ConocoPhillips, where he became known for his dedication, expertise, and unwavering work ethic. But beyond his career, Jason’s true legacy was his family. A patient, loving, and supportive father and husband, he always put his loved ones first. He was a man of faith, kindhearted and generous, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jason is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 32 years, Julia Kristine Sisson-Atherton, and their four children: Michelle Reneè Whalen, Alexander Glaze Atherton-Pham, Mary-Inez Sacra Atherton-Wise, and Zackariah Graham Atherton. He was also a cherished father-in-law to Michael Wayne Wise, Seth Michael Whalen, and Vivian Aibinh Atherton-Pham and a proud grandfather to Isabella Jean Whalen, George Michael Wise, Thomas Jason Wise, Emma Kristine Wise, and future baby Whalen. He leaves behind his loving parents, Murle Atherton and Susan Rogers-Atherton, his brother Justin Thomas Atherton, his sisters Brooke Atherton Lee, Lorri Jean Bailey, Melissa Anne Sisson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jason’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him. Though his time on this earth was too short, his impact will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. A celebration of Jason’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the incredible man, he was. Rest in peace, Jason. You will be forever loved and deeply missed.
