Jack R. Cranor

Mr. Jack R. Cranor Mr. Jackson Russell “Jack” Cranor, 87, of the Oglesby area south of Bartlesville, died Friday evening, October 18, 2013 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Cranor will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Oglesby Christian Center with Rev. Charles Cunningham officiating. Interment will be in the Oglesby Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial fund has been established for the continued maintenance and operations of the Oglesby Christian Center and those who wish may send their contributions to the Oglesby Christian Center, c/o Christine Cranor, 399521 West 2500 Road, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006. Mr. Cranor was born on May 7, 1926 at Steel Camp, Oklahoma (Oglesby area) to Jackson Walter and Isabella May (Hartley) Cranor. He grew up and received his education in the Oglesby area and was married to Mary Ann Marler on November 13, 1948 in Bartlesville. They have made their home in the Oglesby area since that time. Mr. Cranor had worked as a carpenter and electrician and had worked for the Dunlap Construction Company for over 20 years. He was also self-employed as a farmer and rancher. A devout Christian he loved to sing and was an inspiration to others and was a founder of the Oglesby Christian Center. He was also a community leader and mentor in Oglesby and worked hard to keep family and community gatherings together. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Cranor is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Cranor of the home, one son, Earnie Cranor and wife Christine of Oglesby, one daughter, Nancy Cranor of Oglesby, three sisters, Rhoda Blum of Copan, Naomi Owens of Nowata and Julia Murray of Lindsey, Okla., seven grandchildren, Ginger Scherman and husband Rob, Jacklyn Coles and husband Jeremy, Russell Dewayne Cranor, Brandon Cranor and wife Mindy, David Cranor, John Whitworth and wife Amy and J.R. Whitworth, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Jim Tate of the Hogshooter area, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and community friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson Walter Cranor and Isabella May (Hartley) Cranor, two sons, Larry Cranor and Teddy Cranor, four sisters, Florence Kitchen, Nellie Tate, Mildred Gagan and Addie Maude Myers, and four brothers, Glen Cranor, John Arthur Cranor, Ben Cranor and James Cranor.
