Irene "Kay" Ewing

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene “Kay” Ewing. Kay passed on May 18, 2022, in Bartlesville Oklahoma, she was born to Dan S. O’Connor Jr. and Helen Josephine (Broderick) O’Conner on October 21, 1942, in St. Joseph Missouri. She graduated from Plattsburg High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse continuing to serve and volunteer in many cities for forty-five years, including hospitals located in Kansas City, Mo., Bartlesville, OK., St. Louis, Mo., Atlanta, GA., Borger, Tx., and Salt Lake City, Utah. While working and volunteering, Kay married her sweetheart, Jim Ewing on April 11, 1964, they were married for fifty-eight years and were a very loving couple. She also had many achievements, she ranked third in her high school class in 1960, second in her St. Mary’s Nursing school class in 1963, and ranked first in our immediate family for wife, mother, and grandmother. We all loved her dearly, her beautiful, intelligent, loving, energetic personality will be missed daily by those who loved her. She was a special person who embraced and loved everyone she knew; we will love you forever Mimi! She was a light in this world, and now we need to continue shining her light by carrying it within us in our own lives. Family events and travel were the frameworks of her life, Kay had many hobbies and interests, that included spending time with family, Catholic Faith activities, spending time outdoors, and traveling throughout the United States and other various International Countries, she also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and family, gardening, decorating, playing golf, doing puzzles of all kinds, and she donated and volunteered throughout the local communities including decorating homes for the Civic Ballet Tour, Parade of Home Volunteer and tourist, she continued education regarding Nursing and medicine, and generously volunteered her time to many other charitable organizations. She was loved by many; we will always cherish the wonderful memories she created in her life for herself and others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan S. and Helen O’Connor, their newborn baby daughter, Sheryl Laine Ewing, in-Laws, Mary and Bob Ewing, sister Judy O’Connor Plummer, sister-in-law Georgia Anseaume O’Connor. Kay is survived by her husband, Jim Ewing, daughter, Kristi Ewing and Matthew Kelley, son, Steve and wife Christy Ewing, granddaughters, Ashley and Hannah Ewing, sister, Jo O’Connor Ewing, and brother-in-law, Mike Ewing, brother, Dan S. O’Connor III, brother-in-law, Charlie Plummer, and many loving nieces and nephews along with her great grand dog, Gracie Mae. A Memorial Funeral service will be held at St. John Catholic Church, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. June 10, 2022, 10:00 AM Memorial Contributions can be made to St. John Catholic School, Bartlesville, OK, or Cornerstone Hospice of Bartlesville, Ok.
