Howard Michael Horsman

Howard Michael Horsman, affectionately known as "Mike," touched the lives of many during his 88 years on this earth. Born in Bartlesville, OK on February 19, 1937, to James and Mable Horsman, Mike's journey was one of creativity, passion, and unwavering love for his family. A true artisan, Mike was a professional woodworking artist whose craftsmanship was admired by all who had the privilege of witnessing his work. His hands could turn a simple piece of wood into a masterpiece, reflecting his dedication to his craft and his keen eye for detail. When he wasn't in his workshop, Mike could often be found casting his line into the waters, indulging in his love for fishing, or tending to his vibrant garden, where he nurtured life with the same care and attention he gave to his family. After completing high school, Mike pursued his academic aspirations in Kansas City, MO, where he earned three master's degrees from the University of Missouri. Armed with knowledge and a thirst for learning, he returned to his roots in Ochelata, where he married the love of his life, Anne Horsman, and together they raised a beautiful blended family of seven children. In 1970, Mike embarked on a fulfilling teaching career at College High in Bartlesville, OK, leaving an indelible mark on countless students with his wisdom and guidance. His dedication to education was unwavering, and he continued to inspire young minds until his retirement in 1996, holding the distinction of being the longest-serving teacher at the time. Beyond his professional endeavors, Mike was an active member of the community, participating in organizations such as OK Mozart and the Bartlesville Woodturners Association, where he shared his passion for music and woodworking with like-minded individuals. While we mourn his passing, we take solace in the memories and legacy he leaves behind. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James and Mable Horsman, his cherished wife, Anne Horsman, his son Douglas Horsman, his daughter Teressa Horsman Vaughn, his granddaughter Grace Horsman, and his brother James Horsman. He is survived by his children, Michael Horsman, Stephanie Debacker, Wesley Horsman, Justin Horsman, and Robert Horsman, along with nineteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Sandy Shriver and Pat Henderson, who will carry on his memory with love and reverence. A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at the Ramona American Legion on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Comforting Hands Hospice. Howard Michael Horsman's legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the memories he created. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
