PRESTON HALE SCOTT Preston Hale Scott 89, resident of Bartlesville, died at 4:43 PM on Thursday July 14, 2011, in Bartlesville. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Long officiating. Memorial services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Preston Hale Scott was born August 12, 1921 at Oil Hill, Kansas to Paul Hale and Okla Delena (Edwards) Scott. He graduated from Augusta High School with the Class of 1939; he attended El Dorado Junior College graduating with the Class of 1942. Mr. Scott also studied with the International Correspondence School of Accounting. He started Scott Steel in the 1950’s which later became Scott & Hill Steel Inc. He continued operating the business until his retirement in January 1986. Prior to this, he worked for Superior Welding in Bartlesville; Webber Showcase and Fixtures Company in Los Angeles, California (fabrication of airplane kitchens); and North American Aviation. He moved to Bartlesville in 1947. Mr. Scott graduated from the U.S. Army Air Corp on February 8, 1944 and served until March 11, 1946. While in the military, he served as a transport pilot in the China – Burma- India theater flying supplies over the Hump. Mr. Scott retired an Army Air Force Major from the reserve unit. He was a member of the East Cross United Methodist church and most recently attended the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville. Mr. Scott was a member of the CBI Veterans Association and a member of the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. He was a past master and trustee of the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge # 284 AF & AM and an avid square dancer. Mr. Scott was married to Viona Patterson on January 16, 1943 in Pittsburg, Kansas and she preceded him in death on January 2, 1993. He was married to Wilma Kay Simmons (Ward) on January 7, 1994 and she also preceded him in death on January 27, 2000. Survivors include; two sons Richard Preston Scott and his wife Lynn and David Patterson Scott and his wife Judy of Bartlesville; two daughters Susan Hale McKeehan and Sara Kay Scott also of Bartlesville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Scott was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister Darlene Frazier Cox. PDF Printable Version
