Glen Ivan Bounds

Let it be joyfully known that Glen Ivan Bounds lived a life of faith in Jesus and service to others and entered the arms of his Savior and his heavenly rest on July 2, 2023. He was the husband of the late Dana Kaye Bounds; father of Brent Bounds and Candis Bounds Grover; father-in-law of Jenni Bounds and Dennis Grover; grandfather of Griffin, Wyatt, and Sawyer Bounds and Amity, Vivien, and Edie Grover; son of the late Ivan and Edna Bounds; brother of the late Charles Bounds, Joyce Archer, Linda Bloom, and Rita Belding and brother-in-law to the late Laverne Bounds, John Bloom, Bill Belding and Keith Hunter; uncle to Brian Hunter, the late Steve Bounds, Delwin Archer, Karen Adolphus, Vonda Carney, Sherri Morrison, Terry Bloom, DeAnn Dean, Mark Bloom, and Damon Belding. Glen was born in Bastrop, Louisiana on September 16 , 1939. He graduated from Bastrop High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and a Master of Science degree and Doctor of Education degree from East Texas State University. Beginning as a biology teacher in Mesquite ISD, then a biochemical specialist in industry, he found a home at the Dallas County Community College District where he worked on the faculty and administration of several campuses and concluded his almost 37 year tenure as the founding provost of the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development. His marriage of 59 years to Kaye began on August 9, 1963 in Pryor, Oklahoma. Glen and Kaye faithfully served their family, their church and their neighbors in every community they lived. Glen strove to be a servant-leader in all of his roles and he especially delighted in being a father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, had a green thumb for growing beautiful landscapes, and had a heart for nurturing and training horses and dogs. We gather to honor and celebrate Glen’s life and to remind one another that we do not grieve as those who do not have hope. Visitation will be from 5-6pm on Friday, July 7 at Stumpff Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 8 at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 8.
