GERALD D. COLE Gerald (Gary) Duane Cole, Dewey resident passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday at East Bartlesville Christian Church. Gary was born on October 9, 1937, in Dewey, Oklahoma. Gary was the son of Lucille Amos and Harry Cole. He attended Dewey Schools and graduated from Dewey High School in 1957. Soon after, he married Delores Nelson and they began Gary’s twenty year service with the US Army. Gary was stationed in El Paso, Texas, Taiwan, Key West, Florida and Germany. He served a one year tour in Vietnam, where he received a Bronze Star Medal. After retiring, his family moved to Dewey in 1977. Delores and Gary were married for twenty-five years and had two children. Gary continued working for several other companies until full retirement at sixty years of age. He and Sandy Beshear were married in February 1989, and have been happily married for twenty-three years. Gary was a member of the NRA, Dewey VFW, and the American Legion and also a member of the Ridin’ for the Brand Cowboy Church in Wann. He stayed in contact with several of his army buddies and enjoyed reminiscing about the good ol’ days. He also liked going to visit disabled veterans and belonged to an Agent Orange support group. Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors. One of his favorite past times was tinkering out in the garage! He and Sandy loved taking walks together and playing with their beloved pets. Gary was preceded in death by his mother and father Harry and Lucille Cole and also one grandson Zachary Moore. He is survived by Sandy Cole, of the home. Survivors also include one son, Jeff Cole, and one daughter, Tammy Roberson, two step-daughters, Tammy Hime and Molly Moore. Gary and Sandy have several grandchildren and one great grandchild and many family pets. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: ARF Bartlesville, P.O. Box 3292, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
