Mr. GEORGE VICTOR HENKLE Mr. George Victor Henkle, 78, retired Manager of the Phoenix Club, and Phillips Petroleum Company employee, and resident of Bartlesville, died at 6:23 A.M. on Monday. Rosary Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Friday August 28, 2015 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday August 29, 2105, at the St. John Catholic Church, with Father Michael Pratt of the St. John Catholic Church as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Alano Club 325 S. Osage Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003. Mr. Henkle was the son of George Victor and Lela Henkle. He was born on May 1, 1937 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He left this earth after a valiant effort battling COPD on August 24, 2015. He was the kindest big-hearted man, willing to give all he had to anyone in need. As the manager of the Phoenix Club for over 24 years, he demonstrated this compassion to every suffering alcoholic that walked through the doors. He helped countless hopeless people to find a new way of life. He attended St. John Catholic School, St. Joseph’s Military Academy, and graduated from the Bartlesville College High School in 1955. He served his country in the U.S. Army for two years, and then graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah in 1963. He was employed first by Phillips Petroleum Company for 29 years of devoted service. He was also the chairman of the reunion committee for the Class of 1955 for many years. He gave tireless to his community, but he gave even more to his family. He was the rock, counselor, and mentor to all of them; always having time and willingness to help. He leaves behind a large and loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by Jan Henkle, his best friend and soul mate; his daughters Michelle Milligan of Edmond, Andrea Shepherd and husband John of Oklahoma City, and Kara Henkle of Bartlesville, his grandchildren, Matt Jack, Taylor, Joe, Fitz, Terry, and a granddaughter who liked to play Doctor with her Papa Shyanah Nevaeh, and finally his furry roommate Sam.
