Freddie Arlie Alexander

Freddie Arlie Alexander left this earthly home unexpectedly on September 24, 2024, at his residence in Bartlesville, OK. Though his passing was sudden, he left this world peacefully, with his wife by his side. Fred, as he was known to his friends, was born on February 6, 1948, to Paul and Audrey Alexander in Bartlesville. Named after his grandfathers, he adopted the name of his paternal grandfather after his grandfather passed. Growing up in nearby Dewey, Fred attended school there from first grade through his high school graduation. He was an active Cub Scout and Explorer Scout and played the French horn in the Dewey High School band. After graduation, Fred attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah and later transferred to Ozark Christian College during his junior year. His pursuit of education led him to California in 1970, where he briefly attended California State University, Hayward. It was there, in the spring of 1975 that he met his wife, Diane Blanchard, and they were married on May 1, 1976. Fred's determination led him to complete his Bachelor of Science in Theology at San Jose Christian College in 1988. Throughout his life, Fred exemplified a strong work ethic, dedicating himself to various roles that reflected his passion for service. From hauling hay and working in commercial ice to serving as a pastor in several churches and caring for grieving families at a funeral home, Fred poured his heart into every position. One of his passions was serving at the Merced County Rescue Mission in Merced, California, where he taught classes on Christian Life to men and women in the mission’s discipleship program. Outside of work, Fred’s great joy was spending time with family. He had a keen interest in family history, World War II, airplanes, cars, fishing, and storytelling. Known for his love of storytelling and sense of humor, he had a special gift for turning ordinary moments into memorable ones. Most of all, Fred loved to share his faith in Jesus, his Savior. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Audrey Alexander. He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane (Blanchard) Alexander; daughter Jennifer Huffman and son-in-law Dustin Huffman; grandchildren Joshua, Emily, Caleb, and Jocelynne; and sister Paula Alexander. In accordance with Fred’s wishes, he was laid to rest in a private family graveside service on September 26, 2024, at Memorial Gardens in Bartlesville. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Pathway Christian Church (3221 Tuxedo Blvd. Bartlesville, OK) at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Fred’s memory to either the Dewey Band (1 Bulldogger Rd, Dewey, OK 74029) or the Merced County Rescue Mission (P.O. Box 3319, Merced, CA).
