Mrs. Eveline Bernard Mrs. Eveline Bernard, 83, of Bartlesville, died at 8:50 A.M. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Bernard will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the First Wesleyan Church with Pastor Joe Colaw and Rev. Earl Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to Voice of the Martyrs, P.O. Box 443, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005-0443 Mrs. Bernard was born at Colcord, Oklahoma on February 6, 1931 the daughter of Bessie (Allen) Stephens and Owen Stephens. She grew up in Colcord and Jay, Oklahoma and graduated from Jay High School. She was employed with the Bell Telephone Company from 1949 until 1951. She was married to Earl Thomas Bernard in Bartlesville on August 25, 1951. They made their home in Duncan, Oklahoma for two years until returning to Bartlesville to make their home in 1953. In the 1970’s, Mrs. Bernard was employed for several years as a store clerk at the J.C. Penny store in Bartlesville. She was active in all of her girl’s activities such as Brownies, Girl Scouts, and PTA as well as church activities. She and Mr. Bernard started Bernard Roofing in 1969 and were both active in the business until their retirement in 1991. She was also an active volunteer with Elder Care, Homebound, Meals on Wheels and had been an active volunteer since 2000 with Voice of the Martyrs until her illness. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Bernard is survived by three daughters, Linda Smith and husband Joe of Bartlesville, Kathy Jaggers and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, and Anita Spencer and husband Ken of Bartlesville, three sisters, Edna Fox of Bartlesville, Maxine Mattox of Broken Arrow, and Imogean Schmidt of Tulsa, two brothers, Elzie Stephens of Jay and Ellis Stephens of Bartlesville, four grandchildren, Stephen Jaggers of Tulsa, Brian Jaggers of Edmond, Kent Jaggers of Altus and Ashley Colliver of Bartlesville, two step grandchildren, Linda King and Morgan Spencer both of Bartlesville, five great grandsons and two step great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Thomas Bernard on July 17, 1993, a daughter, Vicky Elizabeth Bernard on June 10, 2014, two sisters, Norma Loftis and Freda Stephens and her parents.
