Ella Bridget Luper

Funeral mass for Ella Bridget Luper, 88, of Skiatook, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday June 29, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Skiatook, with Father's Benjamin A.Vima and Joe Nguyen officiating. Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery is under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service are Mark DeShazer, Jarrell Delk, Mike Luper, Richard Luper, Christopher Burns and Dennis Doye. Honorary casket bearers are Herb Forbes, Gary Vail, George Delk, Bill Whitehead and Leon Luper. The eulogy for the service will be read by Dalon Vail, Janelle Forbes will be a speaker with Aloma Edwards and Mike Zimmerman as readers. Musicians for the service are Jim Pardee and Cheryl Montayne. Ella passed away at the Sequoyah Pointe Nursing Home in Owasso, Oklahoma on June 26, 2012. She was born June 8, 1924 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to John and Ethel (Clark) Coyne. She was raised in Barnsdall where she received her high school diploma. She spent time in Oregon and Idaho but she lived most of her life in Skiatook. Ella married Jess Luper on October 17, 1946 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on December 4, 1983. She worked for HUD as a closing supervisor. Ella was a very independent and organized person. She took care of her own yard and loved camping and fishing. She spent time at the Sportsman Club were she was an avid Skeet shooter. Ella also enjoyed quilting, working on cars and telling funny stories. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. During her life Ella was diagnosed with breast cancer but won that battle becoming a breast cancer survivor. Ella is survived by her two step daughters: Norma Lea Whitehead and husband Bill of Sherman, TX; Janice Delk and husband George of Skiatook; a step son Leon Luper and wife Christena of Wichita, KS; a daughter in law Mary Luper, two sisters: Jane DeShazer of Catoosa; Josephine Burns of Broken Arrow; 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a step son Andy, a brother James, a sister Agnes, two infant siblings, stepfather Lee Swisher, two brother in laws: Lloyd DeShazer and Phillip Burns.
