Earl Clark Jr

On Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, Earl Clark Jr. passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at his home in Bartlesville, with family by his side. Earl was born on June 25th, 1938, in Skiatook, Oklahoma to Earl Clark and Mary Lee (Nail) Clark. Earl received his elementary education in Skiatook. After high school, Earl attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and then transferred to OSU to complete his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry. After college, Earl was offered the opportunity to return to his alma mater, NEO, as a professor of chemistry and married his wife Karolyn Kay (Jordan) Clark on February 1st, 1964. He taught for two and a half years until accepting a position as a research chemist at Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville. Earl and Karolyn made the move in 1966, and he worked there until his retirement in 1998. Earl had several hobbies that he enjoyed. He had a lifelong love for the sport of baseball, having played in elementary school and collegiate intramural. From that point on he watched on TV and attended local college and league games in Bartlesville. Earl was also an avid amateur bowler, league bowling at Phillips and placing in many father/son tournaments with his son, Kendall. Earl liked to hunt and fish, spending many hours with his uncles and father-in-law. He was also an avid gardener, spending endless hours tending his vegetable and flower gardens. Earl’s greatest love, however, was serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Earl served in many roles in churches from the time he was married. Earl served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, department director and Sunday School director during his years at Trinity Baptist Church and later First Baptist of Bartlesville. From 1988-1993, Earl served as the Minister of Education for Bartlesville Southern Baptist. He returned to FBC Bartlesville and served as Sunday School Director until his passing. Also, during those years, Earl attended 15 years of training at Glorietta Baptist Conference Center, receiving training from leaders from the SBC Sunday School Department. This led to his being asked to be the Associational Sunday School Director of the Washington-Osage Baptist Association and the Adult Division & Ministerial Consultant for both the Associational Sunday School Improvement Support Team and SBC Metro Training Team. Earl was preceded in death by his father Earl Clark Sr., mother Mary Lee McCloud, stepfather Bill McCloud, sister Earlene Randolph and half-brother Billy McCloud. He is survived by his wife Karolyn Kay Clark, son Kendall Clark, daughter and son-in-law Scott & Karey Hagar, granddaughters Kaylee & Savannah Hagar, sister Julia Coke and several nieces and nephews.
