David Lee Spradling

David L. Spradling, age 83, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born April 2, 1943, in Independence, Kansas, to Jess C. and Irene (Huff) Spradling. David grew up in Independence, Kansas, and attended local schools until entering the U.S. Navy in 1960. While serving his country, he traveled the world, visiting numerous destinations including Hawaii, Hong Kong, China, and the Philippines. Following his honorable discharge in 1964, David married Phyllis J. Hollister. They later divorced. On April 15, 2002, David married Beverly Spradling, who preceded him in death on October 25, 2022. David worked as a truck driver throughout most of his life. While living in Manhattan, Kansas, he also served as a campus police officer for Kansas State University and drove a school bus. Additionally, he utilized his talents painting vehicles. David loved various outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing. Anyone who knew David knew he always had a dog by his side. He especially cherished his four-legged companions, Buddy and Sable, who were the center of his world. Although David lived life as a fierce, independent man who forged his own path, he ultimately found his greatest strength in the Lord. David is survived by one son, David Spradling and his wife, Janice, of rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma; one daughter, Vicki Miller of Sedan, Kansas; and four sisters: Ruth Dixon and her husband, Ronnie, of Tallahassee, Florida; Pauline Shultz and her husband, Randy, of Winfield, Kansas; Linda Raincrow and her husband, Jack, of Independence, Kansas; and Carol Counter and her husband, Ron, of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Allison Williams of Sedan, Kansas; Lauren Goode and her companion Ella of Sedan, Kansas; Jesse Spradling and his wife, Katy, of Sedan, Kansas; Justin Spradling of Wichita, Kansas; Jason Spradling of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and Anna Spradling of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; as well as four great-grandchildren, Evan Butler, Brant Goode, Lucas Jerry Spradling, and Landon Allen all residing in Sedan, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents; three brothers; one sister; and one son, Jerry Wayne Spradling. No services are planned at this time.
