Chuck Allan Tate, 54, of Bartlesville, OK, passed away in his home surrounded by his wife and two children on Sunday, July 16th, after a bravely fought battle with glioblastoma multiforme. Chuck is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jennifer Diane Tate, who has dedicated her life to making a safe, loving, and God-serving home for her husband and children, who never left Chuck’s side during his 4 and a half month battle with brain cancer; his daughter Carlee Anne Tate of Bartlesville, who will always be his little girl; Clayton Michael Tate of Bartlesville, his son and favorite hunting partner; Jennifer Christina Jones, fiancée of Clay from Bartlevsille and who Chuck nicknamed “Jennifer Two;” his perfect grandson Michael Cain Howeth, son of Carlee Tate; and his faithful yellow lab, Scout. Jennifer, Carlee, and Clay cared for Chuck with constant and faithful attention and love during his sickness and sincerely thank all of those who prayed for Chuck and his family. They find comfort and hope in knowing that they have the support and love of so many friends and family, and their strength comes in knowing that Chuck is now free of pain and is rejoicing in Heaven with God. Chuck is also survived by his mother, Sharon Tate (Cookson) of Bartlesville; brother Chris Tate and his wife Denise of Bend Oregon; brother Curtiss Tate and his wife Jamie of Vinita, OK; brother Craig Tate and wife Christina of Bartlesville; Father and Mother-in-Law Phil and Lynn Weaver of Bartlesville; Brother-in-Law Mike Weaver and his wife Melodee of Springfield, MO; Brother-in-Law Darren Weaver and his wife Melody of Tyler, TX; Sister-in-Law Stephanie Longoria of Alexandria, VA; nephews Ben Jordan, Mitch Tate, Seth Tate, Sam Tate, Jake Longoria, Cody Tate, Tucker Tate, and Elijah Tate; nieces Alexia “Alex” Jordan (Tate), Tori Tate, Te’Angela Tate, Elyssia Tate, Jaslynn Weaver, Sade’ Marshall, Jenna Weaver, and Jillian Weaver. Chuck was preceded in death by his father Bob Tate and sister Keely Tate. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 20th, 2017 at 2PM in the Bartlesville High School Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Officiating will be Chuck’s dear friend Mr. Dave Hammonds. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Runnestrand, Merlin Johnson, Brad Gambee, Ben Jordan, Mitch Tate, James Teague, Clay Tate, and Garrick Johnson. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 19th from 6:00-8:00 pm. in Bartlesville Chapel at Stumpff’s Funeral Home, 1600 SE Washington Boulevard, Bartlesville. For more information on the service and visitation, please call Stumpff’s Funeral Home at 918-333-4300. Chuck was born in Joplin, Missouri, on July 8, 1963. His family moved to Bartlesville when he was 13 years old; he graduated from Col-High School in 1981. Chuck attended his freshman year of college at Oklahoma State University where he pursued a degree in Business Management and hoped to play baseball for the Cowboys, but did not make the team. Never one to give up easily, he moved to Garden City, KS, where he improved his skills by playing for Garden City Community College for 2 years; he also met Jennifer during this time. Returning to OSU, Chuck now pitched for the Cowboys until he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 1986. After completing Spring Training in Phoenix, AZ, Chuck played his first season in the minor leagues in Everett, WA. After an extended Spring Training the next year, Chuck was called to pitch for the team in Fresno, CA, where he finished out the 1987 season. When Chuck’s arm wouldn’t allow him to excel any further, he and Jennifer moved to Portland, OR, where Chuck worked in a saw mill. Chuck advanced to the position of lumber trading for the next two years at Western International, until he and Jennifer made the decision to return to Bartlesville to join Chuck’s father in operating Bob Tate’s Tires in August of 1989. After several years of working with his dad, Chuck was joined by his brother Craig in purchasing Bob Tates Tires, which they developed into Tate Boys Tires which now boasts stores in six locations. Chuck loved serving his customers in all ways large and small; his passion was in making each person feel and know that they were a part of the Tate Boys family and taken care of. Chuck couldn’t be happy unless his customers left being 100% satisfied. Chuck and Jennifer have enjoyed their church home at Adams Boulevard Church of Christ, Bartlesville, OK, since 1989. Chuck enjoyed playing on the church league softball team for many years, until his hamstring gave out eight too many times. Chuck had a love and appreciation for the outdoors, which he passed on to Carlee and Clay. They loved hunting and fishing together, and spent countless years bonding over chilly mornings and cramped spaces in ground blinds. To Chuck, hunting was more than just the pursuit of the kill and more about time spent with family and friends. Time spent indoors was often surrounded by family and friends, drinking coffee and playing card games. Chuck spent his life making others feel happy and cared for, loved a positive attitude, and would be happy to know that those close to him are carrying on his firmly held belief that we should all love and help one another.
