Carolyn Elizabeth Ann Findlay-Standridge

Carolyn Elizabeth Ann Findlay-Standridge, age 62, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017 surrounded by her family. She had been suddenly hospitalized in the St John’s Hospital Stroke Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born July 8, 1954 in Bartlesville Oklahoma to Dr. Robert and Ethel Findlay. She is survived by her husband Rick Lee Standridge of Bartlesville; mother-in-law Mary Lou Standridge; step-children LaRhonda Baker and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City, John Hailey of Denver, Colorado, Jessie Standridge and Ashley of Asheboro, North Carolina, Billy Hailey of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Randy Standridge and wife Meagan of Bartlesville and Roger Standridge and wife Rebecca of Ponca City, Rick Strandridge of Bartlesville; sisters Marilyn and Dr. Charles Bethea of Oklahoma City, Attorney Rosalyn Rogers-Miller of Banning, California; brothers-in-law Roger Standridge, Phil Standridge and wife Connie and Randy Standridge and wife Connie, all of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews Julie Rogers of California, Attorney Robert Harrison Bethea of Manhattan Beach, California, Dr. Brian Thomas Bethea of Boca Raton, Florida and Brandon Charles Bethea of Pelham, New York; God-children Courtney Bowline of Bartlesville and Heath Black of Salt Lake City, Utah and numerous step-grandchildren. Carolyn graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in Special Education. She taught for 30 years in programs in Copan and Bartlesville. She was very caring, friendly and totally dedicated to the causes of her special education students. Her student’s needs were her calling and she readily accepted teaching challenges. She innovated readily to make life fun in school; she developed an Oklahoma City Thunder motif in her classroom with multiple memento’s for the students from her trips to the games. She and her fellow teachers also provided necessary classroom supplies for education. She actually did mentoring for her future husband in a special education summer camp many years before they became reacquainted and married. Their common interest in special education was a part of the success in their happy marriage. Carolyn will be missed by her family, friends and especially by her students who sent such endearing get well cards. The family would like to thank the staff and physicians of St John’s Stroke Center for providing state of the art care as well as compassionate and professional care. We also would like to thank the staff of the Spirit Church in Bartlesville for support and prayers.
