Arthur Edward Ward

Arthur Edward Ward beloved husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle passed from this life for his heavenly home on June 16, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at The Journey Home in Bartlesville. Art was 76. He was born on March 2, 1948 in Ramona, Oklahoma to Bert and Mildred (Tucker) Ward. Art was the youngest of three boys. Art attended elementary and high school in Ramona and graduated in 1966. He was active in athletics and lettered in baseball and basketball. It was during his high school years that he met his soulmate Karen Sue Ballard. Their love story started as teenagers and never wavered. They celebrated 54 years together in February of 2024. After graduation Art served in the U S army. He was stationed in Germany during his tour of duty. His service completed; he and Karen were married in 1970 at the First Baptist Church in Ramona. He attended NSU and graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1974. He spent the majority of his career as an accountant in the oil and gas industry. His last employment was in the facilities department at Bartlesville Public schools where he made dear and lasting friendships. Art and Karen lived in Catoosa for many years where their children Jennifer and Brian both graduated from high school. After moving to the Ward home place in Ramona where he grew up; Art and Karen raised cattle, gardened, followed their grandson in swimming, and enjoyed life. He was a hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He and Karen often spent time fishing the ponds on their land. Art was a member of the Cherokee Nation. Art was blessed by many things in his life. None more important to him than the births of his children Jennifer and Brian. When grandson Mason McCauley was born in 1997, he became one proud Papa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Mildred Ward, and his sister-in-law Anne Branan Ward. Art is survived by his wife Karen Ballard Ward of the home, daughter and husband Jennifer and Chuck McCauley of Bartlesville; son Brian Ward and significant other Kerry Easton of Ramona; grandson Mason McCauley and significant other Natalie Hughlett of Kansas City, Missouri; brother and wife Wes and Emma Ward of Ramona; brother Jerry Ward of Edmond plus numerous nephews, nieces and friends that he loved dearly. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Ramona Ok on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:00 AM. The family request memorial donations be made to The Journey Home Bartlesville, OK or The American Cancer Society.
