Anna Lee Long

Anna Lee Long passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Anna was born in Missouri on April 17, 1926, to Paul and Cora Jones. As a young teen, she met Clyde Long and after much persuasion, she married him at the young age of 15 on December 22, 1941, in Marshfield, Missouri. They soon became parents to Mary Ann, Jackie Allen and Clyde David and raised their family in Copan, Oklahoma. The family had many vacations travelling by train to California, Arizona, Florida and Illinois to visit family. Anna loved the Lord and spent her life helping her husband in the church they started, the Pentecostal Tabernacle, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The couple loved sharing their faith and traveled to Honduras and Jamaica many times on mission trips. She read her Bible cover to cover every year. She had a loving and generous spirit, always opening her home, her pocketbook and her arms to anyone in need. Her hands knew both hard work and tenderness. She took great pride in raising a full garden every year, which produced jams, pickles and other canned goods. She was a wonderful cook, and an expert pie baker and cake decorator and in her lifetime made hundreds of both for holidays, birthdays and weddings. Anna enjoyed all types of sewing, crocheting, quilting and embroidery work which she learned as a young girl. She won many blue ribbons for her crocheted tablecloths and embroidered linens at the Dewey Fair. She was “Grandma Long” to many children, not just those that belonged to her. She rocked many a baby and braided lots of hair for any child that came in contact with her. Anna was a lover of adventure, pranks and teddy bears, she even talked Clyde into building a two-story bear barn, complete with porch and balcony to house her bears. She loved riding the roller coaster at Silver Dollar City and wasn’t afraid to try anything. She thought she could do anything she set her mind to, and she did. She loved to camp, fish and play dominos and insisted on building a snowman anytime it snowed, even into her 80’s. Anna was dearly loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed, but we rejoice knowing she is in heaven with her beloved husband. She lived a life of faith and trust in Jesus thru her words and deeds and we thank God for letting us have her for 92 years. Even in the last weeks of her life, she continued to say “every day is a good day”. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clyde Walton Long; her parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers and a son-in-law, Albert Barnett. She is survived by 1 sister, Martha Clark of Garland, Kansas. Children: Mary Barnett of Copan, Jack & Mary Long of Ochelata and David & Karen Long of Copan. Anna was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The service to celebrate Anna Lee’s life and legacy will be on Monday, October 1, at 2:00 at the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
