KATHLEEN “CUPCAKE” MARIE THORNE Kathleen "Cupcake" Marie Thorne 57 went to heaven on Thursday April 7th, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Kathy was a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She passed at home surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was born in Revere, Massachusetts on July 13, 1953. Her mother is Bernice Sage and her father, Leo Shea. Kathy grew up in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. She attended Sault Ste Marie schools. She loved to be active and spend time outdoors camping with all her friends. Upon completing her high school education, she worked for a short time as a nurse’s aide. Kathy moved to Marquette, Michigan with her 2 oldest daughters and that is where she met Raymond. Kathy became a follower of Jesus Christ in July and married Ray on September 6, 1980. While living in Marquette she was an active member of Lake Superior Christian Church and Good Shepherd Fellowship. Kathy home schooled her 3 youngest daughters for ten years. Fourteen years ago Kathy moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she began a very hands-on career with the ministry, Voice of the Martyrs. Kathy traveled to many countries including Pakistan, Sudan, India, Egypt, China and Mexico. Her travels allowed her to fulfill her ultimate passion of aiding and serving persecuted Christians and supporting orphans and widows. Kathy would always arrive with open arms. She loved children and shared joy and happiness through her puppet ministry . Kathy is survived by her husband, Raymond Robert Thorne. Her 5 daughters, Tammy Sexton, Dallas, TX; Pamela Thorne, Marquette, MI; Rayleen Thorne, Raychel Johnson and Cora Thorne, all of Tulsa, OK. Her 5 grandchildren, Zachery, Devin, Makayla, Elijah and Shay Jr. Her Mother, Bernice Sage and father, Leo Shea of Sault Ste Marie, MI. Her Brothers, Michael Shea, Mesa, AZ; Danny Shea, Sault Ste Marie, MI; David Shea, Oneida, NY; Jim Shea, Sault Ste Marie, MI; and Tony McKerchie, Sault Ste Marie, MI. Nieces and nephews, Jamie, Amanda, Stewart, Kayleen, and Jenna. Lifelong friend Lynn Swick. The memorial service will be held on Saturday April 16th, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the new Voice of the Martyrs facility, 1815 SE Bison Road, Bartlesville.
