Ernie Pat Patrick

Ernie Pat Patrick, 67, of Copan, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021. His positive outlook on life and radiant smile will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. He was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Ashland (Pat) and Dessie Patrick of Copan. He grew up in Bartlesville until he was 14. His family bought a small farm outside of Copan just before he started eighth grade. In high school he enjoyed raising livestock and working on his truck. After graduating from Copan High School in 1972, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Shortly after boot camp he was transferred to Groton, Connecticut, where he met the love of his life, Doreen Gardella. They dated for 9 short months before they were married. They celebrated their 45th anniversary in December. After four years in the Navy and an Honorable Discharge, he and Doreen built their home just down the road from his parents. They raised two daughters in that house and welcomed two grandsons later in life. He enjoyed fishing in the family’s ponds unless his grandsons were swimming in them. As soon as the redbuds started to bloom you could find him in the yard mowing or on the tractor taking care of the pasture. Potatoes and onions were meticulously planted by March 17, every year. He always had the garden planned out; a garden that will be planted again this year by his loved ones. He adored the outdoors almost as much as he did his family. He is preceded in death by his brother, George and father, Ashland; uncle Leon Wadsworth, aunt Bessie Simmons, aunt Leona Goad, aunt Aline (Patrick) Robertson, uncle Billy Patrick, and uncle Vern Patrick. He is survived by his mother Dessie Patrick, loving wife Doreen and two daughters, Ashley of Longview, Washington and Melissa Patrick and husband Josh Engelbert of Copan. He has two grandsons, Wyatt and Waylon. Aunt Margie of Woodward, Oklahoma and Uncle Alvin of Sanger, California. As Ernie was a man that would go to town and always knew at least a handful of people he is survived by countless other family and friends that he considered family. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Toby Moreland Student Center on the Copan Schools Campus with Mr.Tom Holland officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be at the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 AM until 8 PM with the family receiving guests at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 PM until 7 PM.
