Eleanor Kay Franks

Eleanor “Ellie” Kay Feigel Franks, 74, peacefully crossed from this life to the next on Friday March 2, 2018, after a brave and courageous battle with pulmonary arterial hypertension as a result of lupus. She was the youngest of five children born to the late Fred L. Feigel and Juanita H. (Morris) Feigel on January 3, 1944, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Eleanor attended College High School, graduating in 1962. She was introduced to James “Butch” K. Franks Jr. and the two lovebirds eloped on July 11, 1964, within a month of their first date. Eleanor began working for Phillips Petroleum Company in 1964 and retired in 2002. She furthered her education by becoming a Certified Professional Secretary and attending Bartlesville Wesleyan College to study accounting. She began her career with Phillips as a switchboard operator and later became a financial analyst, working in the Treasury and Aviation Departments. Ellie enjoyed reading, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, going to the gym with her husband, cooking, music and crochet. She also loved community education classes, including foreign languages and computer courses. She had a passionate interest in the study of religions and could be found reading various religious materials from different affiliations and faiths. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the Bartlesville Public Library storytime. She encouraged education and instilled in her children and grandchildren values of perseverance, faith and humility. She was intelligent, sassy, and a force to be reckoned with. She was protective of her family and loyal to her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joanna Waldrip and her brother Fred (Mike) L. Feigel Jr. She is survived by her husband, James K. Franks Jr.; her son James L. and his wife Mandy Franks, grandchildren Marlon, Kennedy, McKenzie and Brook; daughter Kyra K. Franks and her husband Andrew Siminerio and granddaughter Harper; her sister, Helen Sawyer ; her brother , Morris (Duggie) A. and his wife, Judy Feigel; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and good friends. Family will be receiving visitors at Stumpff Funeral Home Friday March 9, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bartlesville Public Library or Comforting Hands Hospice.
